"Too. much. light." I snarl, wishing I had the power to knock the sun out.
The brightness streaming in from the thin, pink curtains was keeping me from enjoying my slumber, I was this close to tasting the cake made by one of my clanmates, it was my favorite, strawberry flavor and had green icing! Angrily I grip the edge of the blanket, forcing it over my head as I curled into a ball under the quilts. "Wait...something isn't right!" My eyes jerk open, memories of the night before drowning the desire to go back to sleep. "Right, that did happen now didn't it." Irritated I snap the quilt back, revealing an otherworldly being sprawled on the sheets, drooling. "Is this the same person who had forced me to mate with him last night?" Confused was not the word. Perhaps, because I was under the influence of the blood craze, I hadn't noticed the milky chocolate bar, in front of me, he was proportioned nicely too, not too thick not too thin, a man who was better off sleeping eternally than awake. The being stirred, possibly noticing the owner of these bad intentions, creeping towards him. His bloody lips curled into a smile revealing a row of white teeth, as his hand reached for the one inching towards his face. "Do you feel better now?"
"Hah!" I snatch my hand out of his "After last night? After what you did to me? You dare smile and ask if I'm alright?" I cross my arms over my chest, thinking of the best way to undo a mating session, he needed to die. The lids enclosing his eyes, flutter open, his eyebrows rising as he uses his elbow to prop himself up. "What's wrong with asking if you're okay after helping you get through your first awakening?" I put my thoughts to the side, trying to remember the procedure. "I don't recall an awakening involving consummation Xin! Nor does it involve being bitten!" His irises dance along my bodyline, "I didn't get that far with your body Ulai, I only inserted-" Absolutely no shame! Using my hands I cover my-
Didn't consummation, include being naked? Ignoring his know it all stare, I feel around my clothing, and bed. Searching for the drop of blood that indicated we unionized. "As I was saying, in order to allow you to get your body back, I sent your wolf back into you, by inserting a bit of my power through the mark, she wouldn't listen voluntarily so I had to coerce her in a way she would like, so I bit you."
I rake my eyes over his skin, searching for a giveaway that he was lying, but as usual Mr. Knowitall was right again, or he was clever enough to manipulate my way of thinking, one way or the other I wouldn't be able to figure him out, with that being said I gave up suspecting him.
"Very, well since I don't see any of the signs indicating my first time has been taken, I will believe you, but it doesn't explain why we're both alive!"
He smirks smugly, "So you remember something that didn't happen, but don't remember me telling you that wolves aren't meant to die on the night of the forbidden?"
"You said the mating process changes, but, if that were true, I wouldn't be displaying the symptoms of a cursed wolf, who killed her parents..." I sigh, feigning sadness, trying to see if he would give me more information.
"So, that's the way children born on this day are treated in this clan." His tone, escalates making it clear, he was mocking me, I sigh throwing away the act. Time to take a more direct approach, "I am guessing you already know, that children born on a night like yesterday's are seen as omens." I jump off the bed, going directly to my drawer across the room. "Of course I know."
"Then you also, know how people act when they see an omen?" He nods his eyes following my hand movements, gliding along the outside of my drawers, trying to remember which one I hid it in.
"It's common sense, they try to kill you, just like you're planning to do to me, since you see me as a threat." He yawns, turning over "I am a bit tired of waiting for you though."
"If you're tired of waiting, just tell me what I want to know!" Ah right, it was the third one carefully I edge the drawer open, aware of his sensitive hearing. "If you want to play the knife game with me again, be aware I removed all the ones in the room, except the one under your slip, there's no use in sneaking around."
"That's not a knife! It's a pen!" I slam the drawer shut, stomping back over to the bed. "Do you really think I would go all the way over to my drawers if I had a knife on me!?" Annoyed, I plop down on his side of the bed, purposely making him move over. "Ahahahaha!"he laughs watching me pout. "It's not funny! You won't tell me anything and you're acting condescending, when do I get to be the Alpha?"
I could slap myself, did my character change, simply because he bit me? When did I ever kick my feet in a tantrum? And when did I ever let someone get the best of me, and take my status...
I cross my arms over my chest, refusing to look in his direction, continuing my temper tantrum against my common sense. "Aww, are you really that angry?" Xin chuckles, getting up "Do you want to be the Alpha that bad?" I nod, still avoiding contact.
"But, it's impossible for you to be an Alpha around me~" Again with the flirting! I thought we were finally getting somewhere! Even more irritated than last time, I swat his lips away from my ear, "Could you speak something that makes sense? I am an Alpha why, can't I act like one?" the minute the words leave my lips, an idea dawns on me "Did you seal my status along with my wolf?"
He shrugs, "I was telling the truth, I may be an Omega, but I am a true blood, I come from real omegas, the ones that turn into actual wolves, while you, are a fake, one of your parents was real and the other had synthetic alpha blood implanted in them as an experiment, you aren't able to overcome me."
I scoff, "Do your words contain any logic? How am I fake, I clearly exude a scent that makes the others cower..." He smiles, the pity clear in his eyes, "Why don't you go get the door first and I'll tell you everything you'll want to know when you get back?" My brain was scattered, completely. I have no idea how I got downstairs... or off the bed period.
A fierce rapping at the door, greets me, the minute my foot hits, the last step. "ULAI! ULAI! Come quick!" A green lipped, vanilla toned, girl sporting jeans and a black halter, stood in the doorway, her ponytail dyed to match her lips. Without a word I begin my routine, grabbing my jacket off of the rack I follow her out. "What happened this time Sev?" when we had gotten far away from the house, I decided to break the silence.
"Oh the usual, some omega dug his grave, because he snuck into another woman's house." My eyebrows rise "Then what's the rush?"
Her ponytail sways side to side, her pace quickening "A lot of people were killed this round, and we can't afford to lose any others, especially the chief guard's wife."
"Ah so, the man who cheated was her husband?" her head bobs as she nods "Apparently another pair who weren't soulmates got married, the chief guard was actually fated to be with Mrs. smith, she had twins by him, but he left her, because he had already marked someone else."
"Never a dull moment in these woods, now is there..." She chuckles "Nope, unfortunately no one can ever wait long enough for their mates to enter their lives. Oh, but that's not the only reason I called you." She stops walking and turns towards me "The guard's wife used one of Mrs. smith's children as collateral, for her husband's death, she's trying to take custody of the other one, but she's just like you a cursed child."
My smile drops, clenching my fist "She used one of the children as collateral!? What is she still under the blood craze?" Sev nods, "The wave isn't over yet, its lasting longer than usual."
"Aren't you an Alpha as well? You couldn't break them out of it?" she sighs turning back towards the path leading up the mountain "As you already know, an Alpha is only able to break the others out of the blood craze, if they themselves did not give into it, Jeore and I tied the knot last night, and he wouldn't leave me alone...so I killed him."
"You must be heartbroken then, I am sorry you had to come get me..." She laughs "No need, he wasn't my fated one either, though the way he died, will definitely stick for awhile..." my eyebrows raise "What do you mean by that? He didn't die like the others?"
Sev's ponytail stops swaying, coming to a halt along with her feet, we had reached our destination. She sighs, "Reading an event is different from experiencing it."
