Layla
During lunch period, I held my food tray in hand and walked through all the tables filled with students, ignoring the stares.
I found Ashley and Gia alone on a table. Opposite them was Brad, Andre and Alec. Brad was already staring at me. Still contemplating whether to join the girls or not, Ashley looked up and saw me, immediately waving at me.
So I decided to join them. I mean why not.
"Hey" Ashley said the moment I approached the table, "I'm glad you agreed to join us"
"It was a generous offer" I repeated my earlier words with a small smile on my face. Then I turned my head slightly and noticed brad was still staring at me.
Good lord.
"Soooo..." Gia started, "what school did you transfer from?" She asked.
"Swisslake high" I simply answered.
"Oh I've never heard of it" she shared a look with Ashley before turning back to me. "Why did you transfer?"
"My dad got a job here"
"Oh cool" Gia said, "I'm sure you will love it here"
"Ofcourse she will" Ashley jumped in, "Bradhills high is the best school in the state, plus there are so many fun activities and fun people too" she told me.
"Well apart from a few" Ashley added.
"Oh yea, like Hayley and Chloe" Gia said, narrowing her eyes to look behind me. I turned around and saw Hayley and Chloe strutting into the cafeteria like they own the place.
"Those two are as bitchy as they come" Ashley spat.
"That bad?" I asked curiously.
"That bad" Ashley answered.
Then both Ashley and Gia started pointing out people on their table, introducing them and sharing a little history about them.
"you really do know everyone, don't you?" I said baffled.
"Trust me, we do" Gia smiled.
I looked towards Brad's table, he wasn't looking this time.
"What about them?" I asked deeply curious. They had talked about everyone except them.
They followed my stare to the boys table.
"Oh! those are our boyfriends" Gia answered "Andre is my boyfriend"
"And Alec mine" Ashley added.
"Oh" I uttered, caught off guard by their answer. The girlfriends of the boys that approached me the previous day happened to be talking to me today.
What are the odds that this was just a coincidence.
"And Brad?" I asked further.
"Well, they're close friends, the three of them" Ashley answered.
"Speaking of boyfriends" Ashley then started, her full attention on me and for the first time, I didn't like where the conversation was heading to.
"Do you have a boyfriend?" She asked the very question I was afraid of.
"I had"
"He couldn't take the long distance relationship?" Gia asked.
"No, apparently he already had my replacement and I was just a fool in love" I bit out, annoyed. I wanted the conversation to end already.
"Oh dear that sounds f*****g painful" Ashley's comment didnt make me feel any better.
"I'm sorry, this feels like a touchy subject so let's change it" Gia must have noticed my change of mood.
"There's a party tonight, you should come. I figured you don't have any friends yet and I'll hate to leave you out on this" Ashley offered.
"Again that's a generous offer but..."
"But nothing, come on, you should seriously come. I'm pretty sure you've got nothing doing at home" Ashley tried to convince me.
"Let me think about it" I told her.
Things looked to be moving too fast. I only just had lunch today and they were already inviting me to a party.
At least this was way less creepy than being asked out the very first day of stepping foot in the school. Unbelievable, I thought.
"Please do, and if you change your mind, I'm one call away" Ashley smiled from ear to ear as she stretched her phone forward to me. I collected the phone and typed in my number, returning it with a small smile in my face.
They looked real friendly and nice but I didn't want to be quickly and easily fooled into another friendship. I wasn't ready for another betrayal.

Later that night, I sat by my window and stared blankly into the night sky. The few stars that twinkled was enough to capture my attention and make me stay glued to the spot. My thoughts were somewhat endless as I imagined how my life would be like from here henceforth.
I had filled my mom in on the recent activities that were accompanied by moving and I was glad to know that she would be returning home soon. I had missed her so freaking much.
Just as I was still busy thinking, my phone rang. I got up and grabbed my phone from my bed, it was my dad.
"Hey honey" he said
"Hey dad, why aren't you back yet?" I asked worried.
"I'm sorry honey, I got so much work to do so I will ne coming pretty late today" he said, making me slump into sadness. I stayed silent for a while, not knowing what to say. My dad had always been there for me, always been close by when I was alone but since he got this job, he hadn't really had much time for me. I was really happy that he got a better job but I never thought that job would take him away from me.
"Its so lonely here" I finally said after a while.
"I know honey, I feel terrible. More so because you don't have any friends to hang out with" immediately he said that, my mind drifted to Ashley and Gia.
"Actually, I was invited to a party" I said.
"Thats great, i think you should go" he surprised me by saying. "Its fun to get out sometimes with friends. This will not only get you to pass time, it will help you get acquainted with people and even the town"
"I'll be back before curfew, and so should you okay" he clarified
"Okay dad. I love you"
"I love you too"
I sighed. It wasn't my plan to go to the party but he did have a tiny point. So with one last thought, I dialed Ashley's number.
"If you're calling me, it means you changed your mind" Ashley squealed into the phone.
"I guess I did"
"Text me your address and we'll come pick you up"
"Sure" I said and ended the called. I couldn't help but smile and shake my head.
I stood up to get ready quickly. I put on a straight skirt that stopped mid thigh with a little slit on the side. I matched it up with a turtle neck crop top. I brushed my long light brown hair down and simply added lip gloss on my lips.
In a few minutes, I heard the honk of a car outside so I grabbed my bag and phone and rushed outside. When I came out, Ashley and Gia were standing in front of a white sports car, dressed so sexily, in mini gowns.
"Omg!" Gia exclaimed when she saw me, "you look so f*****g hot"
"I am literally so glad I didn't have to come here and struggle to get you a cute outfit"
"Thanks" my cheeks flushed.
"Let's go" she gestured and I walked towards the really beautiful car and got in the back seat. All I pondered at that moment was how they could afford such an expensive car.
Ashley drove a not so long distance before we got to a big house. There were quite a few cars parked outside, just as beautiful and expensive as the one I was in.
We got and headed towards the building. The moment Ashley opened the door and walked in, I was enveloped by smell of vodka. Don't get me started with the loud music that almost punctured my ear drums.
Typical teenage party.
I had been to parties several times but I did feel a little bit awkward walking past teenagers drinking, chatting, playing games, dancing and smoking.
I followed both girls till we got to the end of the rather huge living room where the bar was and where thw music seemed to be a little calm. There, I saw Brad, Andre and Alec. Ofcourse they would be here.
"Guys, meet Layla" Ashley introduced.
"We know her, the new girl" Andre spoke first. My attention was directed to Brad, who at the sight of me, stilled and raked his eyes up and down my body.
"Welcome to the best party ever" Alec bragged.
"Here" Gia passed me a red cup, "do you drink? cause if you don't, I could totally get you a soft..."
"Its fine" I took the cup from her and took a big gulp. I didn't drink, although I have drank a few times but for now, I probably needed it.
"Now who wants to play a game?" Ashley squealed.
"Do you need to ask" Gia replied and they both laughed. They dragged me to a table that had been set with red cups at both ends.
"Ever played this game?" Gia asked me and I shook my head.
"Great! First time's a charm" I smiled at her silly phrase.
"I think I'll just watch though"
"Only for the first round" she told before joining her boyfriend on one end while Ashley and her boyfriend on the other end. I glanced at Brad once, as he stood at the other end close, watching me.
I chose to ignore him and watch the two couples play and scream and laugh and they won eachother. Throwing tiny balls into cups and taking shots was surprising fun to watch.
"Your turn" Gia suddenly screamed at me. I quickly shook my head declining. I didn't plan on going home drunk.
"I'm good" I screamed back. Then I heard my phone vibrating in my bag. I quickly took it out of my bag. It was my dad. When I checked the time, it was already past nine.
Shit!
I turned around to look for somewhere quiet to go answer the call. So I walked towards what looked to be the kitchen, trying to call my dad back when I accidentally bumped into someone.
"I'm sor... " the word hung in my throat as I looked up at the person I bumped into.
It was Krystal.
Shocked to my bone, I starred at her, her expression equally matching mine. Both of us dumfounded.
What the hell was she doing here?
Did she travel across the city to attend the party?
I had never been so confused.
But then, I realised. If Krystal was here, then...
Then just like that, Cole walked into the kitchen as well and froze the minute he saw me.
