My ego was hurt.
My pride was bruised.
How could she have rejected me? How could anyone reject me? Everyone practically wanted to be with me, they would give anything and everything to go out with me.
So how could she not want that?
I immediately started doubting my appearance, wondering what the hell I did wrong. On top of that, my two idiotic friends shared the same look on their faces as they stared at me. A look of despair.
"What the f**k man" Andre spoke first, "you really had to ruin everything"
"What did I do?" I asked confused.
"Really?" Alec said beside me. At that point, I didn't understand what they were both getting at.
"Would you go out with me?" Alec mimicked me, both my tone of voice and facial expression then glared at me, "really?"
"Okay don't talk to me like that, I'm still your alpha" I reminded him.
"Sorry man but you just met the girl, that was a totally wrong move" Alec said.
"But she's my mate" I argued
"And she's human" Andre chimed in, "who has no idea your kind exists. I doubt she even knows what a mate is"
"So what do you suggest I do, chase after her?" The word sounded sour coming out of my mouth.
"Exactly" Andre nodded.
"I don't chase after girls, they chase after me" I said sternly.
"Then I guess you don't want to get her to be yours" he said so casually and took a spoonful of food in his mouth, knowing fully well his words had annoyed me.
I was actually beginning to get slightly pissed by this conversation.
I leaned closer to him and said "I will get her and she will be mine" I almost growled.
"That's the spirit" He then smiled at me.
"I still don't approve of this" Alec's annoying voice sounded beside me.
"Nobody gives a s**t about your approval" if he wasn't my friend and wasn't already used to how I talked he would have flinched at the sound of that.
"Hey guys" a tiny female voice interrupted us. It was Ashley and Gia. They dropped their tray on the table and sat just opposite us. I internally groaned at their presence. Not that I despised them but seeming that they would start behaving all lovey dovey in less than minutes and rubbing it in my face was what always pissed me off.
I turned around and searched the cafeteria for Layla but she was nowhere in sight. I could just sniff her out and find her but maybe they were right, she was human and I should try to take things slow even if it was going to be one hell of a journey.
Fuck that!
I stood up and started walking away. I needed to go find her.
"Hey, where are you going? don't go do anything stupid" I ignored Andre's voice and kept walking.
"Damn it!" He grumbled just before I heard footsteps following me. It was funny how they were always so afraid of what I could do.
I came out unto the hallway and started sniffing her out. Her scent was so strong in my mind, it was a scent I would never forget. I followed her scent all the way to the football pitch, where I found her sitting alone on the bleachers.
I immediately felt a pull in my heart as I watched her eating her food alone. She shouldn't be alone, she should be with me. I should be making her happy.
"Whatever you are thinking, don't do it" Andre said, "I think you have done enough for today and you will only scare her away if you do anything more" I sighed and succumbed to the fact that he was right even though I hated to admit it.
Still staring at her, I saw two girls approach her on the bleachers. Those two girls I hated the most. Hayley and Chloe. Never seen a girl as bitchy as the both of them.
Hayley was the head cheerleader, most popular girl in school. Not as popular as I am though, not that I'm bragging. People say she was really pretty but I just thought her lashes were too long for her eyes, her lips were a little too plump than usual, that could as well be a result of the lipstic. In general, i just thought her makeup was just way too much.
Chloe on the other hand, was her best friend and partner in crime. Together, they literally could disrespect anyone.
Anyone but me.
My mind traveled back to when she wanted me for herself but I rejected her ofcourse. She wasn't my mate and I couldn't and wouldn't love anyone else.
I took a step forward, wanting to go protect my mate from those two but Andre held my shoulder.
"Just listen" he told me and so I listened. Their conversation was oddly surprising. And so with that, I decided to not intrude and let it go.

At the end of school day, we all went back home, together with the girls. We had dinner together with the rest of the pack and after which, everyone dispersed to their various rooms or sections of the house.
Upon nightfall, I strolled outside and stared at the woods. I wondered if by any chance, Layla would want to go there even though I probably scared her away the first time.
So without further contemplating, I shifted into my wolf form and ran into the woods. Usually, I would just stroll around enjoy the cool breeze but this time, I went straight for the spot I found her.
She wasn't there.
Feeling a little heartbroken, I turned and started going away but then, her smell suddenly invaded my nose. Excited, I turned around and behold, she was standing there watching me.
Her bravery was fascinating. Unlike the last time she took off, this time, she watched me with so much curiousity.
I didn't want to scare her so i thought fast to what I could do to make her feel safe around me. Then I sat.
I could hear her heart beat so fast but then slowly calmed down after my gesture.
Then suddenly, to my surprise, she started walking towards me. I did not dare move. I just watched her until she was close to me, her smell doing all sorts of things to my wolf. She crouched down beside me, her heart racing again.
I wondered, I just wondered what was going through her mind.
My eyes widened when she slowly raised her hand and placed it on my side. Immediately her hand touched me, my eyes closed shut. I purred as she slowly and gently rubbed my fur covered skin with her soft hands. I felt a million things all at once. Undescribable feelings.
What was she doing to me?
Was she also drawn to me?
