Chapter Six

They arrive back at the lake house where everyone was waiting to surprise Ryan with a cake and decorations.

“SURPRISE!” everyone yells.

Ryan laughs genuinely surprised by the party. Sam grabs a drink while replaying the kiss in her mind. Her cheeks flush. “Wait a minute, did he tell me to shut up!?” she thinks to herself.

“Earth to Sammy.” Amy snaps

“Huh...what?”

“Why are you zoned out just touching your lips dude.” Amy chuckles

“Is that what laser tag was.” she makes air quotes

“WHAT! No Amy we really played laser tag.” Sam blushes

“Yea and what else?” Amy taps her foot

Sam looks back at Ryan. He catches her looking at him and winks at her making her blush even more.

“I totally caught that.” Amy sings “Tell me what happened, you’re totes breaking girl code!”

“Yo let’s do this gift giving thing already.” Will yells out and everyone crowds around.

Just as Amy thought the day was going great, Helena made an appearance. She greets everyone then takes a seat on James’s lap to watch Ryan open his gifts. Amy fills her cup to the top and takes a seat between Sam and Harry.

“You okay?” Hunter whispers

“I’m great.” she smiles back

*Picks gift up*

“Ok let’s start with this from.... Alex and Remy.” Ryan says

*Opens gift*

“HOLY s**t, are these cleats signed by Ronaldo?”

“Yea man, and Remy got you into the training camp with him.”

“s**t thanks Rem.” Ryan flashes an excited smile causing Remy to giggle.

“Okay Okay, here’s mine.” James hands Ryan a medium sized box.

*Opens box*

“Uhm...you got me Victoria Secret?”

“Oh, my bad,” he takes the box and chucks it at Sam “That’s from me to you for him.” he winks

“WHAT!” she screams

“Anyway, this is for you.” he hands Ryan a small black box

“I swear if this is an engagement ring, we’re rethinking our friendship.” the group bursts into laughter

Ryan opens the little box and a key falls out with an NCR logo on it.

“DUDE! You got me a bike.”

“NCR M16 just like my Rosita,” James smiles

“Aw man I can’t wait to get back and ride, thanks bro”

“No worries.” they bump fists

“Okay now why the hell did you give me this?” Sam pulls out some very skimpy lingerie and the rest of the group breaks into variations of ow’s and whistles.

“Well, I figured since he had to wait until he got back home to ride his bike, you could ride him while he’s here.” James winks

Sam throws the box at James and shakes her head while laughing with the others “Idiot.” she flips him off

Ryan picks up the box “I don’t know I rather like it; I’ll keep it safe.” he gives Sam a devilish smirk

“In your dreams,”

“Preferably in my bed, it is MY birthday.” winks at her

“WELL, not that I don’t love to see Sam turn the color of her hair, your s****l tension is too high so let’s finish this so Sam can try that on.” Amy says and Sam pushes her

Amy goes into a bag and brings out a Soccer ball, “Here signed by everyone on the USA team for this year’s FIFA World Cup, from me to you darling.” she throws the ball at Ryan

“Damn thanks Amy.”

“Yea I don’t do gifts you know that so we’re going to London just the guys,” Hunter adds in and Amy rolls her eyes.

“Ha-ha that’s cool too bro, wasn’t expecting anything from you.”

“Alright lastly it’s me and I got you nothing because you’re a horrible friend and you have everything anyway.” Will says nonchalantly

He throws Ryan a rectangular box, “Oh yea I got this customized watch for you.” he smiles

“The watch I wanted?”

“The one and only.”

“Aw man I love you guys best gifts ever; I do have to say my favorite one is this pink box right here.” The group laughed and continued their festivities for a while longer. Drinking, eating, telling jokes and the occasional death glare from Amy to Helena who was cuddled up on James’s lap.

Remy goes to refill her drink when Helena walks up to her.

“Hey Remy. This is a cool surprise party you guys threw for Ryan.” says Helena

“Yeah thanks. Don’t think we can handle this “thing” between him and Sam.” Gesturing between Sam and Ryan.

They both laughed.

“How you are doing?” Remy asks

“I’m good. You guys are so nice for having me over and James is such a great boyfriend. He’s so nice and sweet.”

Trying to keep a neutral expression she nods faking interest while Helena speaks. “She just said ‘boyfriend’ …the f**k was that?” She thinks to herself.

“Oh, hey I think Ni is calling you over.” Pointing in James’s direction.

Remy waits for Helena to turn and walk towards James before she slowly backs away to talk to Amy and Sam.

“Guys, I was just talking to Helena…get this she was just all words, words, words casually threw in there that James is her boyfriend. What is up with that? It’s been 3 days.” She says with a confused expression and hushed tone.

“The f**k kinda red flag s**t is that!? Why would anyone say James is a great boyfriend? She chuckles slightly then gets serious when she looks at Amy. Don’t worry about that anyway he said it would be a summer fling.” She stops herself realizing what she just said.

“Whoa, whoa a what?” Amy says

“s**t…whaaa…” trying to find something to say. “Oh, look at that its bedtime.” Sam says nervously. “Goodnight” she yells and hurries off down the hall.

“Oh, hey Ryan, Sam’s going to bed go handle that, bro.” James shouts loud enough for her to hear.

“That was definitely not an invitation. I swear if you come after me, I’ll punch you BOTH.” Her voice trailing off down the hallway

The room roaring with laughter.

“I’ll take that chance.” Ryan starts to run after Sam

“Ryan the box!” James shouts and tosses him the pink box. He catches the box with a smirk and runs off.

“Hey, you forgot this!” Ryan tells Sam as she reaches her room, holding out the box for her.

She opens up the box and takes the lingerie out. Holding it up against her body and swaying up against the door.

She punches him in the chest. "Told you it wasn’t an invitation.”

Ryan leans up against her “This is.” Sam slips out a quiet moan.

Sam lightly bites her lower lip in anticipation.

He reaches for the door knob while holding his hand on the small of her back.

She surrenders.

She grabs his shirt and pulls him into the dark room, kicking the door shut.

“Happy Birthday,” she whispers before kissing him lustfully.
