Alicia's POV
“Alicia, Alicia”
I wondered who was calling me as I opened my eyes. The memory of the agonizing time I spent in that room came back to me.
I smiled knowing that I wasn't there anymore. I tried looking around but I felt so weak. Every muscle in me cried pain, was it possible to die a second time?
I managed to look round the room I was in. The curtains were pure white with gold lining at every edge. The floor couldn't be any whiter. I marvelled at the door handles.
There were flowers on top of a table at a corner. Tears streamed down my cheek.
I was a sinner, I have been in filth. How did I earn this room in heaven?.
God was indeed so merciful, he had seen how much pain I was in on earth that he decided to give me this room in heaven.
The door opened and a man walked in.
He was dressed in a gray suit, and his hair was perfect. His eyes sparkled, the curve of his lips looked like that of a woman.
I smiled broadly at him, “ Are you an Angel? I'm Alicia” I said, extending my hand.
He looked at my extended hand and back into my face. He didn't take my hand and I wondered if that wasn't allowed in heaven.
I quickly withdrew my hand, “ Sorry, I'm new here” I muttered an apology.
He gave me an amusing look and smiled showing a pair of teeth that couldn't be found anywhere else in the world.
“ I know you are Alicia,” he said.
“ You do?” I asked
“ Yes,” he nodded. He sat close to me and looked at me, “ I also do know you are not in heaven.”
“ What?” I gaped at him, “ where could this be then?”
“ You are at my place” his deep voice was so calm, so soothing. He brushed his hand on my face. Tucking my hair behind my ear.
I looked up at him and saw his smiling face.
“The maid will tend to you if you need anything,” he said standing. I stared at him, unable to speak.
He turned the door knob and I found my voice. “ When I'm I leaving here?” I shouted after him.
It took a while before he snuck his head back into the room, as if he was hesitating to answer me.
“ You wouldn't want to leave, trust me” he said and left with a bang.
I wondered what he meant by that. I shrugged, it's not as if I had a better life anywhere. Whatever he meant, I chose to accept my fate as it was.
I didn't know who he was and my lagging brain hadn't even remembered to ask. A young lady came inside the room, she was dressed in plain long pants and sleeveless. Her hair was neatly packed as if she was going for work.
“ Sorry I didn't knock,” she apologized. That even surprised me as I was a stranger here. I nevertheless chose to play along. I looked at her as sternly as I could, “ just remember to knock next time” I said.
“ Alright ma” she said in a bow. Now this was amusing. I stared at her and I noticed she was all fidgety.
“ I want to ask you if the nurse could come in now,” she said, not even looking at me.
“ The nurse?” I was shocked.
“ Yes ma, should I let her in,” she said, not looking at me still.
“ Who are you?” I wanted to know the person who addressed me as if I were a demigod.
“ I'm your personal maid ma, my name is Rachel” she mumbled.
I didn't know what to make of this . I had a personal maid now? I was probably in a Dreamland.
The more I thought about it, the more I wondered who that strange handsome looking man was. I opted to ask the Rachel fellow in front of me.
I decided against this, as it would reduce the respect or maybe fear she had for me.
I would be patient till he returns from wherever he went. Rachel coughed to remind me she was still waiting for my answer.
“ Ask her to come in an hour,” I said to her.
“ Okay” she said and left as if she was in a hurry.
As soon as Rachel left I took my time to survey the room.
I momentarily forgot about the pain I felt and stood from the bed.
I went to the window to have a view of the outside. I needed to at least know my location.
From where I stood, I noticed I was in a room upstairs. I looked at the buildings trying to remember if I've been anywhere around here before.
But it was either my memory failed me or I was completely in a strange surrounding.
I gave up on trying to figure out where I was and decided to appreciate the room I was in.
I looked around and the wardrobe caught my eye.
I went straight to it and felt it with my fingers. There was a button and curiosity got the better part of me as I pressed it.
The wardrobe opened and I was stunned at how the Interior was. There were clothes of different styles inside. I started checking them and I saw it was all designers.
“Wow,” I muttered. I took some clothes to wear, it wasn't bad if I had good things. As I pulled a long strapless yellow gown, a car honking distracted me. I moved towards the window wondering the cause of the disturbance.
As I moved the curtains, I saw Mr. Stranger walking towards his gate.
I immediately rang for Rachel, I was scared he might beat me up if I hadn't let the nurse attend to me.
I wasn't sure why, but I was so scared. The memories of the dark room came flooding back to me.
Rachel came in almost immediately.
“ Get the nurse” I said in a voice slightly above whisper.
She left without uttering a word and before I could say anything someone else entered the room.
I looked up,and threw my mouth open. I looked at that blueish eye, that round face, that twisted look, that familiar scent.
“Was I in a trance?” I wasn't sure.
“Alicia”
She said, jolting me back to reality. I stared at her unable to speak, it was obvious she was shocked too.
Then I was angry, was she following me? How dare she show up in front of me.
“ What is the problem?” A deep voice asked. It was only then we both realized Mr. Stranger had entered the room.
