Lisa’s POV “Hey, Lisa.” His voice echoed through the room, but it felt directed at only me. It rattled my bones, causing my hairs to stand on end. Even before turning I knew just who it was. I froze. The little girl I’d been helping stiffened, her small fingers clutching at my skirt as if I could protect her from whatever storm was coming. I could feel the heat of his fury already spilling over on everyone else. Slowly, I straightened. My heart pounded so loud I was sure he could hear it. He definitely could.
