Alex quickly climbed out of bed and locked the door, then rushed into the bathroom
Feeling the hot water pouring over his head, Alex's mood became extremely relaxed.
The old man didn't deceive him after all. Not only could he speak now, but there waalso a mysterious energy flowing within him, as if he could use this energy to doanything!
In addition, Alex also noticed that his mind was filled with a lot of new knowledge about magic.
Iris had already gone upstairs and saw Sophia, who looked panicked. Iris's hearsank, "Sophia, did Alex bully you?
"Mom, Alex, he.." Sophia stuttered as she recalled the scene she had just witnessed.
"What's wrong with him?" Iris asked, thinking to herself whether Alex had asudden ilness and died.
"He's a monster!" Sophia finally found a more fitting word to describe him.
'A monster?" Iris was taken aback, wondering if Sophia was hallucinating. lf thatcowardly son-in-law of hers were really a monster, at least he could make some money at the zoo.
Iris walked up to Alex's bedroom door and tried to turn the doorknob, but it didn't budge.
He dared to lock the door. Iris became furious and pounded on the door, "Alexwhat are you hiding in there for? Open the door!"
Just a moment, l'm taking a shower," Alex's voice came from inside the room.
"Hmph, ridiculous.." Iris's words trailed off as she suddenly realized something"Alex, did you just speak?
There was no response from the bedroom.
Iris quickly walked up to Sophia, surprised. "Sophia, did you hear that? Alex spoke!
"Mom, let's go downstairs first and wait for him to come out on his own." Sophia stillfelt a lingering fear from the scene she had just witnessed.
The two went down to the hall, and Carl approached them. "Auntie, isn't Alexcoming out? He doesn't even listen to you, it's really outrageous.
Iris could sense the underlying meaning in Carl's words but chose not toreact. She furrowed her brow, "We'll wait for him to come out. l want to see whathe's up to!"
Carl sneered inwardly, "This kind of scum is truly poisoning Sophia's life.
Not long after, Alex came downstairs. He had changed into clean clothes and hadsome dampness in his hair.
Sophia immediately stood up from the sofa, pointing at Alex and stuttering, "Alex, you.you..."
Alex calmly sat down on the other side of the sofa and poured himself a cup of tea.
"Alex, stand up!" Iris demanded.
Alex obediently stood up from the sofa, looking at Iris with an innocentexpression.
Iris couldn't stand his look and angrily said, "Alex, stop pretending. You've beenpretending for three years, aren't you tired? Say something!
"Mother-in-law," Alex smiled slightly and spoke three words.
This shocked both Sophia and Carl. The mute actually spoke!
Could it be that he had been pretending all along!?
"Alex, you can speak?!" Sophia's face showed disgust. "You liar! You actually pretendedto be mute! Don't you want to talk to us? Then pretend for the rest of your life!"
Although Sophia was angry, she sensed that something had changed about Alex. Theperson who used to hunch over all the time now stood up straight, and his frailfigure seemed to radiate strength.
It was just too strange.
Alex's expression and appearance now seemed like acting to Carl. He couldn't helpbut mock, "So, you're Alex. You are just as l have imagined."
Carl then looked at Iris. "Auntie, this kind of person won't bring happiness toSophia. His existence is a harm to her. Don't you agree?"
Iris didn't say anything. Although she also thought the same, after all, this was amatter within the Taylor family. How could she let an outsider comment on it?
Seeing Iris's silence, Carl's courage grew stronger, and he walked directly upto Alex, looking at him with a disdainful gaze. "Do you find it enjoyable to beparasitic on the Taylor family? lf you genuinely want what's best for Sophia, thenleave her.
Alex tightened his fist, as if observing a noisy clown.
"lf you leave Sophia, l can find you a respectable job and give you two hundredthousand dollars. How does that sound?" Carl threw his offer on the table.
After speaking, Carl discreetly took a step back, preparing himself for a fight. inhis mind, under his provocation, any man would come forward and give him abeating. Then it was time for Carl to teach him a lesson.
After all, Carl was a black belt in Taekwondo!
To Carl's disappointment, Alex simply looked at him calmly, his expressionresembling that of a person observing an ant on the ground.
Carl was starting to feel uneasy under Alex's gaze and couldn't help but take astep forward, grabbing Alex's collar tightly. "What are you looking at, you spinelessloser?"
Alex still looked at him with the same expression.
This thoroughly enraged Carl, and he threw a punch toward Alex's face.
But Alex was faster. His other hand quickly grabbed Carl's wrist.
Carl struggled but couldn't break free. Feeling the pain in his wrist, he yelled, "Letgo! You useless piece of trash!"
'Am l a useless piece of trash?" Alex repeated with self-mockery.
Just then, Carl released his grip on Alex's collar and threw a punch at Alex's head.
But Alex was even faster. His other hand clamped down on Carl's throat.
The sensation of suffocation immediately immobilized Carl.
"Let... let go of me!" Feeling the terrifying strength around his throat, Carl felt fearrising within him. He managed to squeeze out a few words from his throat.
Alex coldly looked at Carl. "What are you? Do you even have the right to meddlehere?"
"Alex, stop!" Iris was afraid that Alex would go crazy harm Carl, so she shoutedanxiously.
Alex turned his head to look at Iris, revealing a cold smile.
Oh, mother-in-law, when Carl was hitting me, why didn't you tell him to stop?
Alex casually tossed Carl aside, treating him like trash.
At that moment, Iris's phone rang.
Iris glanced at the caller lD and answered the call.
"What? Something happened at Sophia's company?" Iris exclaimed anxiously.
These words stunned everyone present.
