Saoirse stands on the bank of a river, similar and yet different from the place where she and Rhys first saw the harp. Everything around her feels wrong, somehow distorted from the way things should be. The natural music of the place is discordant, off-kilter. The shadows of the trees and rocks and even Saoirse herself look more jagged than they should and seem to move of their own accord. “Perhaps the harp is nearby. If I play it, that might fix things,” Saoirse says to herself and comes to the edge of the river, meaning to look up and down it for signs of the harp.
