“You wanted to see me, Your Majesty?” Magister Diarmaid inquires, hesitating at the door of the Faerie Queen’s antechamber. To be summoned to see the Queen in her private quarters, when Court is not in session, is most unusual, so much so that he actually left Seamus and Kyrie in charge of today’s training session a short distance away from the palace gates. “Aye. Thank you for coming on such short notice,” the Queen replies from a chaise lounge in a sunny alcove. “Please come in, and make yourself comfortable.” “As Your Majesty wishes.” Magister Diarmaid settles himself uncomfortably on a stool that, to human eyes, would seem to be a giant toadstool, a short distance from where the Queen is reclining. “You are not at ease, Magister. What is the matter? We are old friends, you and I.”
