Nicole's POV
I call his office. His colleague informs me he took the afternoon off for "personal matters."
Left early? Personal matters? And radio silence?
A sense of dread claws at my gut. Grasping for sanity, I call Bianca, my voice quivering. "Bianca! Alex took off early, his phone's off, it doesn't make sense! I have this horrible feeling..."
After a pregnant pause, Bianca’s voice turns steely with the determination, "Personal matters, huh? Nicole, get home NOW. I think the lowlife is cheating on you! Bust him!"
"What?!" Her words hit me like a thunderbolt, cracking my heart wide open.
Cheating? Alex, who swore he'd stick around through thick and thin?
No way. This can't be real. But... phone off, leaving early, personal matters... it starts to feel like a terrible jigsaw puzzle
