Mission: Survival
Shon suffered a severe shock. He was the kind of person who studied everything carefully before doing anything, leaving no room for mistakes or chance. His goal had been to save his father, the great scientist, but what happened in that moment made him give up. He could no longer endure; years of planning, exhaustion, and thinking of the most effective strategy collapsed in seconds.
He fell to the ground, tears streaming from his eyes like a waterfall.
Julian approached him and said,
Shon, we will succeed. We’ll do it together. Trust me. Gather your strength, please. We have to move now.
Shon said,
You don’t understand! Our secret is exposed. We’re finished.
Julian replied,
Hey, don’t say that. We will survive, we will succeed. And not only that, those scoundrels will bitterly regret their actions. Listen to me carefully: we have to survive. But to make that happen, we need to work as a team.
Marcus, are you ready?
Marcus loaded his weapon and said,
Ready. More than ever.
Julian said,
Everyone must carry a weapon… even you…
He paused. Kyla had already picked up her weapon.
Julian grabbed another gun and handed it to Shon, saying,
We will succeed. I promise you.
They located Maria, and the guards were very close to her.
They moved in the direction of rescuing Maria.
But Marcus said,
Hey guys, we need to take out that guard.
Julian said,
Leave him. We will not be like them. Let’s go.
Marcus disagreed, but he glanced at the guard and said,
We’ll meet again.
Shon:
The plan was to attack while they were unaware. Now they know we’re here.
Julian:
Good. We’ll attack even though they know we’re here.
Marcus laughed:
Hahaha! That’s exactly what I want. We’ll attack. Nothing else matters.
Shon:
But this is suicide. There are thousands of them!
Julian:
Look, they’re just two guards.
Kyla:
Yes, they’re searching for Maria. They haven’t found her yet. That’s good.
Shon:
They don’t have this device. Look, she’s behind that tree on the far left.
Marcus:
They’re very close to her. What should we do?
Julian:
Marcus, come with me. Shon, stay here with Kyla.
Marcus:
Leave that guy with the submachine gun to me.
Julian:
It’s yours.
In a swift motion, Marcus grabbed the guard by the neck and took him out, while Julian tried to do the same. But the guard sensed him and hit him, knocking him to the ground. The guard drew his weapon and tried to shoot Julian.
But shockingly, Marcus fired at the guard and saved Julian from certain death.
He asked,
Are you okay?
Julian:
Yes, I’m fine. Go get Maria so we can leave quickly.
Marcus advanced searching for Maria and found her behind the tree. She was badly injured. He tried to approach her, but she was holding a small piece of glass, tried to strike him with it, and said:
Stay away!
She also tried to flee. He was in a guard’s uniform, and she was afraid of him, but he said:
I’m Marcus, Kyla’s friend. I’m here to save you.
Maria:
Kyla… where is she? Tell her…
Suddenly, she fainted. He caught her before she hit the ground, carrying her in his arms, and returned to his companions.
Everyone gathered, looking at Julian.
What do we do now?
Julian:
It’s six o’clock. We must reach the tunnel immediately.
They hurried toward the tunnel. Shon closed the small gate at the top of the tunnel and said,
What now?
Julian:
We’re going to call Roni for help.
Shon:
Are you crazy? We can’t do that. He won’t believe us.
Julian:
We have no choice. Maria needs urgent help.
Listen carefully. You’re going to the academy and tell Roni everything.
Marcus:
What about you? Don’t tell me you plan to return to the institute.
Julian:
Yes, I have to do something.
Shon:
Yes, we must destroy those barrels. That’s the solution.
Kyla:
What barrels?
Julian:
I’ll explain everything after I return.
Shon handed a message to Julian and said,
I’m counting on you.
Julian:
What is this?
Shon:
It’s a map. You’ll need it to stop these maniacs.
Julian:
Next time, you’ll tell me everything you’ve learned. Do you hear me? Don’t hide anything from me. But we’ll talk when I return.
Go quickly!
Kyla:
This is very dangerous, Julian. Come back with us. These people are extremely dangerous.
Julian:
I promise I’ll return. I’ll come back for you.
Kyla:
Please be careful. Watch out for yourself.
At that moment, Julian remembered his mother in her hospital bed, saying the same words to him before she passed away.
Without hesitation, he decided his life must have meaning and purpose. He resolved that these people must be stopped. He opened the cover and returned to the institute.
At the same time, the man in the black suit was standing in front of Shay’s office.
After being allowed in, Shay said:
Tell me, Crow, what’s going on? What happened? Can it be that children did all this? Where were you?
He added angrily,
Tell me one reason why I shouldn’t end your life right now.
The man in the black suit, the Crow, said:
Sir, I sent a team to eliminate them, but the team failed in the mission. We lost six guards, and we found the head guard tied up in the warehouse.
Shay’s anger increased, and he said,
Who are they?
The Crow:
Maria and Kyla, two new students, plus three young men. We are still identifying them.
Shay:
Don’t you know who they are?
The Crow:
No, sir. They were avoiding the cameras.
Shay:
Listen carefully. I know who they are—they are trainees at the academy.
The Crow:
Is that possible, sir? How could that happen?
Shay:
Yes, they are students, but that makes the mission easier. I will call Donnie; he will handle it properly.
Shay:
Listen, there are urgent orders to execute tonight at 22:30. The director and some others will be present. Our lives depend on the success of this experiment. No room for failure.
He added:
Has everyone taken the drug?
The Crow:
Yes, sir. Everyone. I supervised the operation personally, and according to the latest update, everyone is asleep now.
Shay:
I want you to start the distribution immediately.
The Crow:
Understood, sir.
Shay:
There’s something else.
The Crow:
Yes, sir.
Shay:
Find the traitor and bring him to me. Do you hear me? There is a traitor among your men. Find him. Understood?
The Crow:
Understood, sir. We will find him.
The Crow left the office, and a guard was standing in front of the door.
The Crow to the guard:
Listen carefully. Pay attention.
The guard:
Understood, sir.
The Crow went to carry out Shay’s orders.
But the guard was actually Julian. He had easily bypassed the other guards, wearing their uniform, and followed the map that led him to Shay’s office. There was no guard in front of the office. He pretended to be on duty and overheard the conversation between Shay and the Crow, realizing that everyone was in danger. He took out his phone and called Kyla.
Fortunately, she noticed the phone and said:
Wait… It’s Julian!
Kyla:
Julian? Is that you?
Julian:
Yes. Listen, stop immediately. Where are you?
Kyla:
We exited the tunnel. We are now in the warehouse. Marcus went to inform Roni.
No! He’s colluding with them. He must return immediately. Go back to the tunnel.
Julian dashed after Marcus at lightning speed, but Marcus had already reached Roni’s office.
At the reception, Marcus said:
I want to see Officer Roni.
They told him he was in an important meeting and asked him to wait. It would end soon.
He sat in the waiting room, and at a critical moment, Shon entered, alarmed, signaling Marcus:
Come here.
Marcus approached Shon.
Marcus:
What’s going on? Did something happen to Maria?
Shon:
No, no, as he caught his breath, did you inform Roni?
Marcus:
No, they said he’s in an important meeting. It will end soon, then I will tell him.
Shon:
No, Julian called us. He’s colluding with them. We must leave immediately. Let’s go.
The two companions left and returned to the warehouse.
At that moment, Roni exited his office, and the receptionist said:
Sir Roni, a trainee wants to speak with you.
Roni:
Who is it?
Receptionist:
His name is Marcus. He was here, I don’t know where he went.
Roni received a message.
It read:
There is a mission to execute. Trainees discovered something that could lead to their destruction. Their identities have been identified: Marcus, Shon, Julian.
After seeing the message, Roni asked the receptionist:
You told me the trainee’s name is Marcus, right?
Receptionist:
Yes, sir. He just left.
He said to her:
Inform Jack I need him for an urgent matter immediately.
Receptionist:
Understood, sir.
On the other side, Maria was suffering from pain and a broken left arm. Kyla tried to help relieve her pain.
Marcus and Shon entered the warehouse.
Kyla:
What happened?
Shon:
Fortunately, you intervened at the right time.
Marcus:
What should we do now?
Shon:
We must enter the tunnel and stay there until Julian returns and we see what we can do.
Kyla:
Come, help me lower Maria. I’ve made a makeshift splint for her fracture. I hope her condition doesn’t worsen.
They all returned to the dark tunnel.
Marcus brought some items from the warehouse, like broken chairs and old blankets, and arranged a place for Maria.
They sat, looking at each other in shock, unable to comprehend what was happening.
Marcus lay on a chair and said:
I’m dreaming. Yes, me too. In a few minutes, my mother will sprinkle water on me to wake me up.
Events had taken a very dangerous turn. Time sometimes passes quickly, but in such circumstances, time seems to stop
