Jonah shook his head, his face contorted in agony. He reached out to me, but his hand collapsed uselessly to his side a second before he hit the floor. "Someone call 911!" The room spun out of control, a dizzying blur of shouting voices and flashing lights. Stepping over Jonah's motionless body, Lucas pulled me into his arms. The polite mask he always wore finally slipped, revealing a dark, triumphant smirk. "You're finally mine, Selena." I didn't even have the energy to push him off. A hollow, mocking laugh escaped my chest. "Was all of this really necessary, Lucas?" He didn't answer. He just pulled me along, leading me away from the twisted nightmare we had created.
