Isaac slammed the car door shut behind him and climbed into the driver’s seat. His hands shook as he shoved the key in and twisted it, the engine roaring to life beneath his grip. He didn’t wait to adjust the seatbelt or mirrors, he just hit the accelerator and sped out of the driveway, tires screeching against the pavement. He tapped the call icon on the dashboard and selected Isabel’s name. The phone rang once, twice, then went to voicemail. “Come on,” he muttered under his breath, jaw tightening. He was still in disbelief at what was happening. He was almost certain this was some type of nightmare for him. He would never have thought that this was the direction where things would stir. He had really thought that he had gotten the only barrier in his and Isabel's life out of the way.
