Isabel sat curled on the edge of the bed, her knees tucked close to her chest, her arms wrapped tightly around them. Her breathing had slowed, but her body still trembled. The faint hum of Isaac pacing across the room made her head lift slowly. She looked at him, eyes wide, voice shaking. “How… how are you back?” He didn’t look at her at first. His jaw was clenched tight, and his eyes stayed fixed on the floor for a moment before flicking to her. “My flight was delayed,” he muttered. “Then postponed so I came back.” She nodded faintly, unsure what else to say.
