Chapter14

1791 Words
Xander was at his desk going over some papers when his father walked into the office, and he looked up. He set the folder down and looked at him suspiciously. “Dad, what brings you to Glee?” He didn’t trust his father and knew the man was dangerous and powerful and didn’t want to cross him. Leonard gave him a sly smile and cleared his throat. He felt the same way toward his son and didn’t trust him either. The men tolerated each other at best as business partners, but when it came to being a family, they didn’t get along. “Did you invite Anna Simone to the ball?” Xander pressed his lips together and looked at him in question. “I tried to, but Hardy beat me to the punch, he said, and his father smirked. “You may want to question your friend’s loyalty,” he said and threw a file folder on Xander’s desk. Xander picked up the folder and looked at the contents. There were pictures of Anna at the ball, entering the bathroom, and leaving the bathroom, and the time was circled. He noticed she left the building and came back with a different purse, and Xander thought that was odd. He licked his lips and looked at his father angrily. “The files on Project A and T are missing along with the files on the Guatemala facility.” Xander thought for a moment. Would Anna be capable of stealing from him or his father? “Also, Xander, the video to my office was on a loop. I looked at the video feed when I was in my office, and I wasn’t in the room. Now, either I have the ability to disappear or someone has been getting a little nosy. Also, son, she is bedding with the enemy,” said his father, and walked out of the office. Xander saw another picture of her and Justin laughing. That must have been before they met up with him and Helen. He looked at all the pictures and decided that he was going to run an investigation on Anna and see what she was really up to. ******** Anna slowly opened her eyes and smiled, feeling Justin’s arms around her. She liked the way he smelled and the way his skin felt against hers. When he was around he gave her peace and comfort. Like a comforting blanket that melted her anger and hurt away. The moment she looked into his eyes, everything seemed to melt away. She knew that she had to control her feelings for him and that hurt, but she couldn’t trust him until she could figure out his involvement in all this. She considered the fact that he was more honest with her than her best friend had been, but she still felt cautious. Another reason why she decided to go train was to get away from everyone and clear her head. She loved her friends, and where she and Justin were going, but she needed to clear her head and focus on getting her mother and the kids back. She looked at the clock and saw she had two hours to spend with her friends before they drove out to the base. Anna blew a breath and ran her fingers through Justin’s hair. It was soft. He stirred and smiled. He slowly opened his eyes, smiled, and rested his palm on her cheek. He traced circles on her cheek with his thumb, and she looked into his eyes. “Morning, gorgeous,” he said huskily. “Morning.” He yawned, stretched, and wrapped his arms around her. “You know you are truly gorgeous.” She blushed and bit her bottom lip. He creased his brow and grunted, and she looked at him in question. “What’s wrong?” “You shouldn’t do that,” he said as he blew out a breath. She smirked and he laughed. He touched her face, kissed her lips, and pulled back. “You know it’s moments like these that make me wonder why I wasn’t nicer to you.” Anna gave him a thoughtful look and traced his collarbone. “You’re off to a great start. I’m going to take a shower,” she said and pulled away. He sighed heavily and watched her leave the room. He wasn’t used to a girl teasing and not following through, but Anna was different. Yes, of course, he wanted to tease her, taste her, make her reach her peak, and satisfy her, but didn’t want to push the issue and chase her away. He rested his head against the wall and let his thoughts race. ******** Anna got out of the shower and dried off. She wrapped a towel around her hair, and another towel wrapped around her body. She walked into the room and found Justin in the same spot as she left. He smiled and watched her walk into her closet. A few moments later, she threw a towel out of the closet, and he looked at the towel and swallowed hard. She walked out in a lacy, boy-short cut, black panties, and a black sports bra. He couldn’t keep his eyes off of her, and he then noticed her scar. It looked like it was a deep wound, from her armpit to her hip, and she also had stab wound scars. “What happened?” he asked as he rose from the bed. He touched her scar and traced it down to her hip, and she felt the warmth from his fingertips on her skin and was going to miss his touch while she was gone. “I was almost sliced and diced, during the Martel case. I fought for my life for six months in a hospital bed. Paul saved my life, but he also watched me have to fight on my own, helpless,” she said sadly. He put his palm on her cheek and searched her eyes. “I remember seeing you on the news, but it didn’t register that it was you,” he said, and she snickered. She kissed him passionately and ran her fingers through his hair. She was going to miss his warmth, soft skin, his scent, his…. She kissed him harder and pressed her body against his. His fingers ran up her back, and he kissed her deeply. He whimpered as she bit his bottom lip and squeezed her hips. Anna stopped herself and ended the kiss. It was a little hotter and heavier than they had kissed before, and she was a little light-headed and dizzy from it. They looked into each other’s eyes, breathing heavily, and Justin kissed her again. She kissed him sweetly and pulled back, licking her lips. “It really sucks. I’m not going to see you for a month,” he said, running his hands over her soft skin. She sighed, nodded, and rested her forehead against his lips. “I agree.” He watched her as she bent over and put on her black pants. She jumped a couple of times to fit them just right and buttoned them and then she picked up his t-shirt. “But as they say, absence does make the heart grow fonder, Justin.” He smiled at her as she pulled the shirt over her head and looked at her oddly. “And my t-shirt?” he asked, raising an eyebrow, and she smirked. “Something of yours to take with me,” she breathed and threw her work shirt at him. “I’m going to need that when I get back.” He smiled at her as she pulled on her socks, and he picked up his backpack. He pulled another t-shirt out of it, put her work shirt neatly inside, and zipped it up. They walked into the living room, and Michelle and Paul were already up and had coffee made. They laughed and talked until it was time for Anna to head to the base, loaded her bags in Justin’s trunk, and got into the car. ********* Justin sighed, driving down the highway, and he glanced at Anna. He wanted to beg her to stay but knew it was useless. “I’m going to miss you, gorgeous,” he said as he glanced at her. He reached over and touched her hand, and she smiled as she took his hand, and intertwined their fingers together. “I’m going to miss you, too.” Michelle and Paul looked at each other, and Michelle leaned over the seat. Anna looked at her, and Michelle grinned. “Did I miss something?” she asked, pointing to their hands. Anna wrinkled her nose, looked at Justin, and shook her head. “No. Why?” she asked, and Paul snorted. She grinned, and Michelle hugged her friend. “I think he’s a good pick. You can always beat him up if he breaks your heart,” she said, and everyone laughed. She wiped a tear from her cheek and grinned. She was going to miss them. ***** Justin drove up to the base, parked, and he, Anna, Michelle, and Paul got out of the car. Justin grabbed Anna’s duffle bags out of the trunk and set them beside her as she hugged Paul and Michelle goodbye. “Please call me or text me,” said Paul, and Anna nodded. “I will,” she said, and he rubbed her shoulders. She smiled and turned to Justin. “Simone!” called one of the uniformed soldiers, and she looked at him. “Five minutes to departure.” Anna nodded and looked back at Justin. “I’m going to miss you, Justin,” she said. Justin put his hands on her hips and pulled her close, and they hugged each other tightly. “I’m going to miss you so much. I hope the month flies by,” he whispered in her ear, and she hugged him tighter. “Me, too,” she whispered back. She pulled back, and he kissed her deeply, picking her up and spinning her. He set her down, and she kissed him again. “I’ll text you,” she said, let go, and picked up her bags. She smiled at her friends and walked over to the military van. She loaded her bags and got in the vehicle. Justin, Michelle, and Paul sadly watched the convoy leave, and they got in the car and headed back to Glee. Justin dropped Michelle and Paul off and headed home. He pulled her uniform out of his backpack and put it on the spot on her side of the bed. He blew a long breath and hoped the month would pass quickly.
