TAINTED SHADOWS: Begin

364 Words
I can feel his gaze behind me. I can feel his breath behind my back, as if he was near. But when I turned around, I couldn't see anyone. Am I hallucinating or what? I took a deep breath before saying anything. "You're not real, you're just in my mind." I whispered through the breeze as it blew the side of my hair. "Yes, not real..." I thought to myself as I shook my head in denial. The room felt so heavy and cold that I almost couldn't breathe. It creeps the hell out of me. I looked at every corner of my room trying to eye any and all different shapes out there. It's dark, quiet and slow. The only things I can hear are my heartbeat and my heavy breathing. As if I was running away from something I couldn't even see. From something I believe isn't real. I stood up in my bed, repeating the words "it's just the wind" over and over again, both in my mind and out of my lips. I shiver from the cold with fear engulfing me from head to toe. As I walked slowly towards the window, tiptoeing my way to close it properly. How was it open in the beginning? I swear I just closed it before I went to bed. I slowly and finally calmed down when I reached my window. As I was about to close it, I noticed a shadow under the lamppost across from my building. I felt a shiver crawling up my spine as we looked at each other. I paused for a few seconds before finally closing my windows and curtains shutting them off completely. I gasped as I slowly took a small glance out my window again to check if he was still there. I stood up confused. He isn't there. He's not there anymore. How...? J-just how...? I ran back to my bed whispering and mumbling, hoping everything was just a dream.it took me a minute before finally deciding to just shrug everything off. I closed my eyes and counted till I slowly drifted to sleep, still unaware of the danger lurking in. "SLEEP WELL DARLING."
