Basilica of the Church of Light
***
The beautiful Basilica of the Church of Light. Singing angels in heaven were painted in its ceilings. Its walls were painted in fine white and golden linings. On the altar, there was a huge statue of the God of Light, an old man holding a dove. The pope was there as well, already waiting for the arrival of the Groom and Bride.
And the guests, nobles of different statues, along with the royal family who were seated in the front, filled the benches and waited for the main stars of the wedding. The Viscount and Viscountess of Maestre together with their two youngest children were also at front.
"It's an honor for us, to have you here, your majesty, my King, and to her Majesty, my Queen. And to his highness, Our Crown Prince" Viscount Maestre greeted the King, Queen and the Crown Prince.
King William Vector.
Queen Theodora Vector and...
Crown Prince Maven Vector.
"Congratulations Viscount on the marriage of your daughter," the King nodded his head.
"It's our pleasure, your Majesty."
"With this union, I look forward for the kingdom's continuous prosperity."
"Of course, your Majesty."
Such important guests of the kingdom gathered in the most awaited wedding of the most famous and highest Count.
“How can this be? How can our beloved Count marry an ordinary woman?” Lady Rika Villacorta, the president of Count Gabrielle’s fan club, cried out loud to her members. They were now sitting in the third line of the Church of Light Basilica seats. Since Lady Rika was a daughter of a duke, she was able to get a VIP invitation and managed to take a seat near the front together with her other two officers of their fan club.
“It can’t be helped, Lady Rika. This was the last dying wish of the King. Going against it is a crime equivalent to death. Not even our dear Count nor the viscount’s family would be able to escape such punishment.” Lady Catherine Moral, the vice president of the Count’s club said. The disappointment was laced in her face.
“What does the king think giving such last words,” Lady Rika said with a clenched fist. “He should have just died peacefully.”
“Lady Rika, don’t speak such words. It’s too dangerous out here, with so many ears right now.” Lady Catherine said.
“The groom has arrived! Count Gabrielle Buentacilla!” The chamberlain announced which shifted everyone’s attention at the entrance of the aisle. Everyone was in awe as they watched one of the most handsome men in the kingdom walk through the red carpet toward the aisle of the kingdom. He donned a fine white coat and golden tie, along with a red sash and the medals of all his military awards.
“Kyaa! Count Gabrielle!”
Though it might looked some kind of exaggeration, but most of the ladies’ eyes on the basilica formed hearts and squealing in a whisper. But since it was prohibited to create noise and disturbances inside the church, probably their screams could shake an entire country if not for that rule. It happened already in many public occassion.
Count Gabrielle walked in the aisle and stopped right before the altar.
Moments later the herald announced the bride. "The bride has arrived!" The two doors opened. Everyone was curious as all their eyes went to the lucky wife that was blessed by the late king.
She was wearing a long beautiful white gown with golden lacings and floral patterns. Her face was covered by a white veil, making it hard for anyone to see her face.
However, she walked with grace as she reached the aisle. Count Gabrielle, offered his hand to his bride which she accepted and together they faced the altar.
The Priest began the wedding ceremonial rights. Until it was time to exchange vows.
"Lord Gabrielle Herald, do you take Lady Vivienne to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish for all the days of your life?"
"I do."
At the Count's answer, all the single ladies present, their hearts were shattered to pieces.
Then the Priest turned to Vivienne,
"Lady Vivienne Maestre, do you take Lord Gabrielle Herald to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish for all the days of your life?"
"I..."
There was a pause... The Viscount and the Viscountess hearts raced.
"I do."
Then Vivienne finished her sentence sending relieved to her parents. But this finally broke all the ladies that attended the Count's wedding ceremony.
"By the power vested in me by the God of Light, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride."
The whole church was filled with applause.
Although Count Gabrielle saw his wife portraits, this was the first time that they met. It was really funny. He was not someone who was a fan of arrange marriage.
But regardless, he vowed to be fateful to his wife.
"Can I remove your veil?" He asked.
Vivienne nodded her head. The moment, Count Gabrielle touched her veil, he noticed that the lady tensed for a bit.
"I'll be careful." He said trying to console her.
Then slowly and carefully he lifted her veil. And he was astounded for a moment seeing her hazel chocolate droopy eyes. She was looking at him clearly at eye to eye level without flinching.
'Hoh...'
The Count smiled then gently cupped her face then leaned closer. Those eyes stayed at him until their lips touched.
However, his eyes widened. Her lips felt weird like something like a paste. He slowly retracted away but before he could get so...
"Don't worry Milord, I wore fake lips!" She winked. Then before the Count could comprehend what she just said, she faced the crowd.
And once again, the whole crowd boomed with another applause.
"She's beautiful! Who said that she looks ordinary!" All the girls that were there clapped their hands with agony.
Thus, night came and it was time for the two couples to be alone.
