Annebelle We lay there for a while, my mind going a million miles an hour. What's going on with me? I've hated everything to do with wolves since they took over and here I am in bed cuddling with one. "What's going on, I can sense your worry." "What does the mate bond do? "" What do you mean?" "I mean I feel like I'm bipolar or going nuts I don't understand. I was abused in that camp for years by wolves, so I should be scared of you. But instead, here I am cuddling and joking with you and we haven't known each other for long. It's just very confusing. Why am I comfortable with you? I feel this overwhelming want and need to be near you, which makes no sense." He pulled me closer, kissing the top of my head. " I can assure you your not bipolar or going nuts. The mate bond affects humans differently than it does wolves. While I love knowing that you are comfortable with me, the uncertainty will simply take time. Mates are your other half, so the familiarity that your feeling is from the mate bond even in the short amount of time. If you had a wolf, ours would connect and there wouldn't be any issues or uncertainty. With you being human, it's going to be more akin to speed dating." "Speed dating really?" "Its the easiest way of explaining it. You'll feel the need to be together and the relationship, as you have noticed, will move faster than it would with another human. What would take years will take maybe a month to feel the same." "Wow, that seems fast." I looked down, tracing the lines on the comfort, trying to wrap my mind around it all. I have a mate who is an Alpha Wolf and I'm going to live here. Living here no longer in a cell will be nice, but what will I do? I still don't understand the job of a Luna yet and I have no actual skills other than the manual labor we did at the camp and that is not exactly a skill. "What does a Luna do?" "That will come with time. You'll share duties with me and we will run the pack together. Give yourself time. You can't learn and conquer everything all at once." "OK." That added some reassurance for me to pass out and deal with all the worrying another day. Its been a week since Tate brought me to the pack and I can actually say that it's been better than expected. He's been showing me a couple of his daily duties that I will eventually take over, along with how humans reintegrate into life here. I surprisingly haven't gone through my heat yet, which I'm thankful for. The idea of it taking so long though, seems to be making Tate very worried and anxious. When I bring it up he avoids the questions. I watched him pacing the room for fifteen minutes as I sat on the end of the bed. "Are you ok?' He stopped looking right at me, his eyes were pitch black. It was frightening and I didn't dare move. Ive seen them at the camp when their eyes went black and usually it meant their wolves took over and it wasn't good. But here his eyes had gone black before and he didn't hurt me, so I didn't know what to expect. I didn't think I angered him in any way today unless waking up was just enough. He continued pacing for another thirty minutes. Sweat was dripping down my neck from anxiety at the whole situation we were in.Until he left. He just left, walked right out the door without a word or looking back. I knew this was too good to be true. I did something I have no idea what. Now he's so upset that he can't even look at me and just left. Slipping out of bed quietly, I quickly put on a pair of black leggings and a light blue t-shirt with a pair of black sandals, before heading out of the room towards the elevator. Maybe he just needed some time, maybe I kept him up all night somehow and that made him angry. Or he realized he was upset about being forced to have a human as a mate. I mean he has to start from scratch, teaching me everything I didn't grow up with the ability to learn all of this like a shewolf would. He really didn't have to have a human mate. He could have let me die. It would have been easier I was ninety percent dead anyway, just walk away and poof gone. But now I'm marked, so I don't know how he would be able to get rid of me now. I made my way out the front door and continued walking along the path through the woods to clear my head. Hopefully, things turn around with him. I have really grown to care about him and this place. The thought of losing it caused a pain in my chest. It will work out, I hope. The forest was quiet as I continued down the path, nothing there except a group of soliders training off in the distance. The morning air felt nice and cool on my skin, which was now on fire. Why is it so flipping hot? I feel like I'm dying. The world around me started to spin as my balance became unsteady and sweat dripped down my back. What's happening? A stabbing pain seared through my stomach, bringing me to my knees. A hand grabbed my arm, pulling me upright. His touch felt like hot lava, causing me to scream. His eyes were black as he forced me against a tree. "What are you doing?" He began ripping my shirt and leggings while I continued trying to push him off. But the horrible pain was depleting any strength I had. "Stop Stop what are you doing?" I looked down to see he was undoing the knot in his shorts and had already undressed me from the waist down. Panic sunk in and I used my last bit of strength to try and push him off of me, but it was no use. He was too strong. He finished undoing the knot on his shorts and started pulling them down. "No No you don't want to! Tate help me Tate! I scratched at his face and chest but he pinned my hands above my head and forced a knee between my legs. "Please, Please don't", I begged as another wave of pain hit, taking my breath away. I closed my eyes as he positioned himself ready for the pain until his body went missing. Opening my eyes, I see the man unconscious on the ground with Tate standing over him. I continued standing there trembling as Tate walked towards me, his eyes black as coal. He reaches for me and I flinched away unsure of what it would bring. "Shh sweetheart, I'm here, I'm here." His hand reached up to my cheek, rubbing his thumb over it. I leaned in savioring the cool ice pack feeling his body felt against the volcano exploding in my body. Looking up at him again, his beautiful green eyes stared back at me. He pulled away for a second and the burning came back with a vengeance, almost forcing me to the ground until I felt his shirt go over my head and I was scooped up into his arms. "Take him to the cells. I'll deal with him later." Tate said before walking us back to the pack house.
