Chapter seventeen: Food

Leila pulled up the blanket hiding her naked breasts and folded her hands over it. She looked down, silently. "Hey, what's up? Did I say something wrong?" Vitus asked worried. Leila shook her head "Tell me." Vitus pressed "I don't want to be like all of those other women." "What other women?" Vitus was confused. "The ones you just have s*x with and then leave, the ones you call stupid." Leila mumbled. Vitus swallowed. She was right. He had always said that women were stupid and useless. Today, however, he hadn't thought of himself, he had just wanted to make Leila happy. Normally he would have taken his fill and left. But this was different. Leila was different. Vitus looked at Leila. "You're not like all of those women. You're different. You make me feel different. You matter to me. I want to protect you." Leila nodded, she didn't know whether to believe what Vitus was saying or not, but she didn't feel like arguing. "I would like to have a shower now" she announced. Vitus nodded "I'll wait for you." Leila wrapped the blanket around her half naked body. "I just saw your beautiful breasts minutes ago, why hide them now?" Vitus asked smugly. Leila frowned. "I don't want you gawking at me. I am not one of your wh*r*s" she spat. Vitus swallowed and looked away. After freshening up, Leila chose a pair of simple blue jeans and a tshirt from the dressing room. She dried her hair with one of the many towels which were in the bathroom and was just about to walk out of her rooms to find Vitus, when there was a knock on the door. Leila looked around, Vitus was gone. "Ms Johnson" a female voice said. Leila opened the door "yes?" "My name is Miller, I am to be your personal bodyguard. I have a bag of things here for you, I have been told to schedule an appointment with you for setting them up?" "Uumm ok. I'm Leila." She looked at the tall woman confused, her own bodyguard?! What did she need her own bodyguard for?! She wondered. "You can set those things up now if you like." She said Miller walked over to the desk. Leila watched the her place the bag on the desk and open it up. Just like all the other bodyguards, she too was dressed in a black suit. Miller pulled a laptop out of the bag, Leila squeeled, "can I do my course work on it?" Miller nodded, "it runs with a secret network, so you can do anything you like on it" she smiled warmly. "Don't go telling anyone where you are though!" Miller warned her. Leila surpressed a sinical laugh, how would she do that?! She wondered, she didn't even know where she was herself. Her stomach rumbled, Leila sighed, "I need to get some breakfast or lunch, what time is it?" "It's 2 O'clock, I can set this all up whilst you eat, and you can look through the rest of the bag later, if you like" she offered. Leila thanked her and walked out of the room to the kitchen which smelled of freshly fried bacon, eggs and toast. Leila's mouth watered. "Good morning dear," Sally greeted her happily "would you like some fried eggs and bacon or would you prefer something else, we do have cereals or porridge? Or just plain toast? I could make you a proper lunch, but I thought you might like a fry up, it's more brunchy.. but it's up to you, whatever you like." Leila smiled, "bacon and eggs sound delicious, if that isn't too much trouble" she smiled. "Nothing's too much trouble, besides, that's what I'm here for." Sally squeezed Leila some fresh orange juice and set it down on the small breakfast bar, "sit down dear" she said and gestured to the stools, which were standing at the breakfast bar. Leila sat and sipped her orange juice, when the food came she dug in greedily. Sally laughed. When Leila had finished she looked up "have you seen Vitus?" She asked. Sally shook her head, I thought he was in your room, with you?" She replied. Leila sighed "he was, he said he'd wait for me, but when I got out of the shower he was gone." Sally frowned, it wasn't like Vitus to not keep his word. After breakfast Leila walked back to her room, Miller had finished setting up the laptop and was now standing infront of her door. She nodded to Leila, "Miller, why do I need a body guard?" She asked her. "To watch out for you and set up laptops for you." Miller joked. "No seriously, now, I'm not allowed to leave this building, why would I need a body guard?" Leila asked again. "Well, you will be able to leave one day, and then you'll have more than just one body guard keeping you safe. But for now, you could try to see me as a friend, we could watch movies together, hang out." Miller suggested. Leila smiled "yeh, I'd like that." "Like what?!" Vitus' voice made Leila jump. "Oh nothing." She dismissed. "Sir Sorokin" Miller greeted Vitus formally. "In here now." Vitus ordered and opened the door for Leila to go in, "Leila, I'm not going to ask again," Vitus said seriously, closing the door behind him, "what would you like?!" Leila looked at her feet "A friend." She sighed. "Oh. Yeh." Now it was Vitus' turn to feel embarrased. He had told Miller to keep Leila entertained and safe. He knew he could trust Miller, why was he getting so jealous of a female, why was he so protective of this girl?! Why was she so important to him?! He asked himself. Vitus looked at Leila, "where were you?" She asked, "when?" Vitus asked. "Oh don't play the fool, when I came out the shower, you said you'd be here, you weren't." Leila snapped angrily. Vitus rubbed the back of his neck. "I was setting something up, it took longer than I thought it would, but it seems stupid now." He answered. Leila calmed down a little "show me." She said. Vitus rubbed his hands together nervously "ok, but promise not to laugh." Leila nodded, "I promise" she said solemnly. Vitus opened the door and held it open for Leila, then he took the lead, he stopped infront of a closed door that led to a room, in which Leila had never been. Vitus opened the door, Leila walked in. The floor beneath her felt soft, she looked down, it looked like there was grass on the floor, Leila bent down to touch it, it was soft like a carpet. "Polyester, it's not real grass, but it's soft." Vitus explained. Leila looked up, there were small potted trees placed around the room. She smiled. "You like it?" Vitus asked hopefully. Leila nodded. The sound of birds singing faintly in the distance floated through the room. She was absolutely speechless, Vitus had made a room into a park. Her eyes settled on two chairs with a table. "Do you want to sit?" He asked, Leila nodded and they walked over to the chairs and table, closing the door behind them. Once they were seated Vitus started to speak, "Sally said you wanted to go outside, I know this isn't going outside, but I thought this way I can bring the outside in.." he trailed of looking at Leila sheepishly. Leila's eyes sparkled "thank you" she said honestly. "I'm sorry it took so long, once you were in the shower I sent one of my men to get the stuff, then I set it all up, it took much longer than I thought it would. I didn't want you to think I had just left you without saying anything." Vitus explained. Leila's heart warmed towards him. He really had given all of this a lot of thought, she mused. There was a knock on the door. Leila frowned. Vitus got up to open it and came back with large wicker basket. "What's in there?" She asked. Vitus looked down and rubbed the back of his neck nervously. "Tell me." Leila pressed. "Well, I asked Sally to make us a picknick, I thought we could have a date, not a real one, but sort of similiar to one, but it all seems a bit silly now, I'm not good at this sort of stuff.." Vitus explained starting to rub the back of his neck nervously again. "It's not silly!" Leila exclaimed "it's a lovely idea, thank you, Vitus." She smiled and stood up. Vitus placed the basket on the table and opened it. "Mmmhhh strawberrys" Leila licked her lips. Vitus shook away his dirty thoughts and gave the bowl of strawberrys to Leila "what else did Sally pack?" She asked "Sandwiches, crisps, grapes and " Vitus paused "Oh they're miniature sausage rolls" he laughed. Leila looked at him, "what?" Vitus asked her "they didn't look like sausage rolls from up here" he defended himself. "No, it's not that" Leila smiled "I like it when you laugh, you look so care free, you don't do it enough." She said quietly. "Plate?" Vitus asked trying to distract Leila and change the topic. "Yes please" Leila replied and they both sat down to eat.
