Giovanni led Sophia through the winding streets, avoiding the crowded areas, until they reached a nondescript building. The sign above the door read "The Red Door," and Sophia's eyes widened as Giovanni pushed the door open.
Inside, the room was dimly lit, the air thick with smoke and the hum of hushed conversations. Sophia's eyes adjusted slowly, revealing a luxurious lounge, with plush couches and velvet curtains. The walls were adorned with expensive artwork, and the bar was stocked with top-shelf liquor. Giovanni's empire was evident in every detail.
Marco appeared at their side, his eyes scanning the room. "All clear, boss," he murmured.
Giovanni nodded, leading Sophia deeper into the lounge. They reached a private room, where a sleek black desk sat in the center. Giovanni gestured for Sophia to take a seat, and she complied, her eyes fixed on him.
"So, Sophia," Giovanni began, his voice low and smooth. "Tell me, what were you doing in that alley?"
Sophia hesitated, her eyes darting around the room. "I was just...lost," she stammered.
Giovanni raised an eyebrow. "Lost? In that part of town? At night?"
Sophia's eyes locked onto his, a spark of defiance in her gaze. "I can take care of myself," she said, her voice firm.
Giovanni smiled, impressed. "I think you can," he said. "But sometimes, even the strongest need a little help. That's where I come in."
Sophia's eyes narrowed, her mind working overtime. "What do you want in return?" she asked, her voice cautious.
Giovanni leaned back in his chair, his eyes never leaving hers. "Oh, I think we can come to an arrangement," he said, his smile growing wider. "After all, I'm a man who likes to collect debts."
Sophia's eyes flashed with understanding. "You want me to work for you," she said, her voice flat.
Giovanni chuckled. "Let's just say, I want to utilize your skills," he said. "You see, Sophia, I have a little problem on my hands. A rival g**g is encroaching on my territory, and I need someone with your...particular talents to help me take care of it."
Sophia's eyes locked onto his, a calculating glint in her gaze. "What's in it for me?" she asked, her voice firm.
Giovanni smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Oh, I think we can come to a mutually beneficial agreement," he said. "After all, I'm a man who likes to make deals."
