“This case is suddenly turning into a darker path." Agent Brook said before turning towards the group of teachers outside the room. "Who’s the teacher in charge?” He asked them.
“That would be me,” Ms. Jennica said as she approached the agent.
"Unfortunately, we would like to advise the school to end the camp, seeing that the situation wouldn't be healthy for the students as well as the teachers and staff," he said.
The teacher worriedly turned back to the group of teachers behind her, “But-” She mumbled, hesitant to agree.
She knew the consequences the agent said were true but she couldn’t help but think about all the funds and efforts everyone put into this. Not just that but she dreads to see the sorrowful faces of the graduates as they’re unable to experience this for their own batch. It was a Deviox tradition and it pains her to tell them they couldn’t continue it.
Seeing the teacher hesitate, the agent sighed, “I understand your frustration. But it would be more life threatening if we allowed the students to stay here.” He started, trying to convince the teacher. “There is a possibility that the killer is still here.”
The teacher sighed yet understood the situation. She knew the agent was right and that it was idiotic to let students stay in a venue of murder. She nodded before turning her way back to the other teachers. Informing them about the dire need to leave and to contact the school buses as well as the students’ parents.
Agent Brook returned to the group, informing them about the teacher’s cooperation. “We need to get to the bottom of this,” Agent Kleio told them. “The situation got worse and I’m afraid it will worsen as the day passes.” He added.
Agent Brook nodded in agreement, “You three should fix your things.” Agent Brook gestured to the trio. “You’ll ride with us.” He said before guiding the three out of the warehouse.
As the three peacefully walked out of the warehouse, they were suddenly called by the council president, “Sage! Daexoen! Styx!” She called out. Behind her followed the other council members.
The three stopped their tracks, facing the group. “Ms. Margaux, how can we help you?” Daexoen asked.
“Is it true? Was it really Lexie?” Fenice asked them.
The three nodded, “Unfortunately it is” Sage answered.
With that being said, they continued their way back to the camp houses. They saw how the students were going back and forth, preparing their things to leave the site as soon as possible. The students had mixed emotions with the information, unwilling to leave the unfinished experience yet also the fear of what lies in the nights to come.
“Everyone’s packing up.” Fenice mumbled, yet it was loud enough for the group to hear.
Keios sighed, “It’s a shame that this batch can’t experience Deviox’s graduate camp.” He said, looking at the incoming buses. “Scath’s dad even had a bunch of preparations readied for the activities.”
Sage looked at him curiously before turning towards her childhood friend, “Uncle Charous? How is he involved?” She asked him.
“We own this area,” He answered. “It really is a shame. This is one of dad’s best properties.”
The council nodded in agreement, “We had our student council camp here. As far as I can remember, there’s a lake near here,” Fenice enthusiastically said.
“It’s a shame, we haven’t even started the camp and now we’re obliged to go back” Than suddenly said.
The trio shrugged, “Well, the year isn’t even halfway done. Couldn’t you just move the camp to a later date?” Styx suddenly said.
“Right, I was wondering why you’ve decided to have a farewell or ‘traditional’ camp just a few months after classes start.” Daexoen said.
Margaux smiled, “It will be a hectic year for the graduates. That’s why it’s early so that they can focus on their studies the months after.” She tried to explain. “But since this occurred, I think that would be the school’s fall back plan. We can’t just let them graduate without this.” She added, receiving an understanding nod from the three.
“But anyway, we should also get our things out. Are you still riding with us?” Margaux asked the trio.
“No, we’ll go with the agents. Thanks though.” Sage answered before excusing herself as well as the two males to leave.
As the three were walking towards their own houses, the council members couldn’t help but gossip about them once again.
“Sage is getting close with Daexoen’s uncle and Styx’s dad. It looks like someone has their family blessing. Wanna bet who she’ll end up with?” Trex jokes, earning a painful strike to the head from Fenice.
“You really are shameless!” She called him out, “Let’s go get our things rather than gossip around someone else’s business.”
As time passed, the three were now seated at the back of the agent’s car. They were now traveling back to the city. Luckily, they were approved to leave with the agents rather than with the school bus. However, instead of directly heading home, the agents agreed to take them to the station hoping to get some help with the case.
“Yes Auntie, I’m with the boys and Agent Brook and Agent Kleio” Sage informed her aunt, who was now on a call with her. “No. I don’t think I’ll be coming home right after. They said we needed to go to the station first.”
True to the school’s word, they immediately contacted the students’ parents and guardians, letting them know about their child’s early return. Because of the phone call from the school, Hyuna didn’t think twice to ring her niece. The previous accident was still fresh from her memory, traumatized that something would happen to the youngest and her friends once again.
“Why? Shouldn’t you be brought home? Why are you not with your schoolmates?” Her aunt bombarded her with questions.
She sighed at her aunt’s overreaction, “Relax auntie. For some reason, we were the lucky students to have found the corpse. They’re taking us in for further questioning. I'll be home after that.” She tried to reassure her.
“Tell your aunt I’ll be driving you home myself.” Agent Brook said, hoping it could lessen the frantic woman’s worry.
“Agent Brook will drop me at home. Don’t worry, okay auntie? I’m fine.” she said.
She heard a deep sigh from the other side of the phone, “Alright. As long as Agent Brook is dropping you off. Be safe, alright?”
“Got it. Goodbye” She answered, ending the call.
“What about the two students with us?” Daexoen asked the two agents as soon as Sage’s aunt was out of ears.
Agent Kleio turned to them, “Unfortunately, the scene took a toll on them. We thought having them talk to a psychiatrist would be better before interrogating them.”
“They lost a friend. It’s normal” Sage mumbled, yet everyone in the car could still hear it.
Everyone remained quiet. The trio were slumped back, still exhausted and drained from the events before the ‘scene’. The two agents were deep in thought to create a stable conversation, which resulted into the solemn and peaceful atmosphere around the five.
As soon as they arrived at the station, they were greeted by Agent Lucas, who was standing just outside the office door. Luckily, Agent Yuan was not in sight, they didn’t have any energy to fight back nor acknowledge his irritating presence.
“What happened, Brook? Kleio? Why did I get a call about a murder?” He asked them the moment they were near.
“A student from Deviox Academy was brutally killed during our camping” Daexoen answered for them.
“I’m still pissed, why couldn’t the killer kill after the camp?” Styx suddenly confessed. “Our club had a great activity planned out. Not only that, I heard the camp today was supposed to be the best one out of all.” He added. Shocking the agents that heard him.
Sage looked at them solemnly, “It was supposed to be my first camp as well. Guess that one night of sleep was kind of worth it I guess.” She told them.
“Really? You haven’t gone camping before?” Daexoen asked her.
She nodded, “My parents are always busy, so is auntie and uncle right now and I couldn’t really go camping.” She answered.
Styx was now calm, joining in the conversation. “Even with your friends?”
She shook her head, “I’ve never really had a group of friends. This is the biggest I could make.” She mumbled, surprising the two males, yet both didn’t utter another sound.
The agents looked at them, bewildered by their conversation. Everyone except for the two head agents were baffled with the three's uninterest in the case. It shocked them to find such a dense yet unfazed group. However, Agent Kleio and Agent Brook began to understand the true nature of the three. It was simply their personality. How they just fit one another yet also so far off each other. Another great discovery from the trio.
"Why are they like this?" Agent Lucas whispered to the two.
