"Can you track both of these numbers?" Sage asked as she showed him the two text messages she had.
"Sure, just give me some time," Styx answered as he fixed his laptop on the table.
Daexoen gave his attention to the female. Seeing that Styx was busy with his task he decided to ask the younger about her opinion. "Any idea?" He asked.
Unfortunately she shook her head, "Honestly, I'm quite confused about this case. She was so nice and bubbly when we met her this morning but now it's as if she's a different person."
Daexoen nodded, "Exactly. I think our initial conclusion was right." He told her, as he listed out her possible take away gestures. "I noticed how she looked at you when the teacher was praising your work as well as when he was asking you to join. If looks could kill you would have been dead already." Daexoen added.
"When I asked for her phone she was reluctant at first but when I mentioned Mr. Myers, she just immediately handed it over, her expression, when I helped him with the books, was also quite sharp." Sage added to their suspicion list. "I also noticed that there were only 3 girls in the club room, excluding myself and her. If we are right that the unknown number is her then she might have also threatened the other female students."
Daexoen nodded, "But what about the other 3 girls in the room?"
Although Styx was busy with his side of work he couldn't help but intervene in their conversation, "It could have been because those 3 could be in a relationship. I saw the lock screen of one of the girls, it was a couple's photo. She could have just let them go, knowing they weren't interested in the teacher." He told them, before going back to his work.
The other looked at each other knowingly, "Her split personality is really getting to me. Do you think you were right with the DID?" Daexoen asked.
Unexpectedly the younger shook her head catching the older off guard, "I don't think so. Yes her sudden shift of personality is quite odd but other than that she doesn't seem to show other possible signs of DID." she admitted.
"I see," the other quietly said, realizing the facts behind her explanation.
Before their conversation could continue Styx delivered good news, "Hey, I finished tracking them." he called them. Both students instantly got up to check Styx's laptop.
"So the president's number is currently in the Highstein Subdivision," Styx said as he pointed towards a red dot. "While the unknown number is actually two blocks from here, looks like this person has become your stalker" He continued pointing to a green dot who's just around the corner from their location.
Sage raised an eyebrow at their data, "Highstein is quite far from here, it would take about 1 and a half-hour by car to reach from the school. How is that possible? The cafe is quite near the school. It only took us about 15 minutes to arrive here on foot. We saw the president at the art club before leaving, even if she did leave at the same time with us she should still be on the way there." Sage said confusingly.
"Maybe she left her phone?" Daexoen suggested.
Styx however disagreed with his suggestion, "That's impossible dude. I saw the president had her phone with her when we went to the club room. And didn't you guys say you borrowed her phone during lunch? I don't think it's possible for her to leave it at her house" he said.
"And she couldn't possibly go home during lunch. We only had an hour before classes resumed. If she did leave she would have been late to her classes and the campus gates would have been locked by then," Sage added.
The three stayed in silence, completely clueless about their given data. Each one of them trying to figure out a suggestive answer to their questions. However, in the middle of their silence Daexoen notice something on Styx's laptop.
"The second number is moving," Daexoen said as he pointed to the green dot.
The other immediately looked at the moving dot, "Where is she going?" Sage asked under her breath.
Styx monitors the screen, "I'll just keep an eye on that number, sooner or later that person will stop." Styx suggested.
"Who would you think this person could be?" Daexoen asked them.
"Honestly, I only have one suspect. The president" Sage answered as she went back to her seat.
The two male looked at her surprised, "How?" Styx questioned.
"I mean the way the unknown number threatened me, is as if he or she didn't want me near the teacher. Although with the given data it seems quite impossible since both numbers are now in different locations but it feels like it's the same person." Sage insisted.
"Right, but it really doesn't make any sense," Daexoen said as he sat next to the younger.
"Hey, you might never know, She might have a doppelganger" Styx jokes.
Daexoen laughed before throwing a cushion pillow at Styx, "That's crazy, don't tell me you actually believe that stuff dude? What are you five?" he teased.
Sage looked at them with confusion. She didn't understand why they were laughing and what was so funny with Styx's suggestion? She knew it was ridiculous, and that there was no scientific explanation for so-called doppelgangers. But their way of reaction was foreign to the youngest. Although confused, Sage sat there in silence, secretly observing the fun interaction between the two childhood friends.
A few minutes into their discussion, they heard a knock from the other side of the room's door. Daexoen stood up to open the door only to be greeted by the familiar faces of the two agents.
Agent Kleio scanned the room, surprised to see a familiar face, "Styx? Why are you here?" He asked, confused as to why his son was with them.
Styx shrugged, "Nothing dad, Just thought that I'd go and hang out with Daex. He introduced me to Sage and here we are." he covered up.
Although the other agent was somewhat convinced Agent Brook didn't buy it for a second. He knew the two were up to something and he guessed that Styx is now involved with whatever they're up to. He was a little worried though, he was worried that the three would get themselves in trouble.
Agent Brook raised an eyebrow, "And why here again? And the door's lock?" He questioned.
The three showed no look of panic, "Everyone is staring at us in the cafe, It's really annoying, for the lock we didn't want other people to suddenly barge in" Daexoen tried to convince him
He had his eyebrow raised, "Uhuh, Well It's already late. Sage, we'll give you a lift. Let's all go home." Agent Brook told them.
The three looked at each other. They still had a lot more to talk about but it looks like the two agents were dedicated to bringing them home already. They didn't have any other choice than to leave.
"Uh, Sage, Daexoen I'll get your numbers. So that I could tell you if I've finished it" Styx said as he handed them his phone, acting casually in front of the Agents.
The two quickly understood what was happening and instantly handed over their numbers to one another. If they couldn't finish this discussion personally then they would have to deal with it through their phones.
Agent Kleio looked at them puzzled at their conversation, "Why? What are they asking you to do?" Agent Kleio asked his son.
Styx shrugged, "Nothing big dad, we were thinking of going to the same club together," Styx said.
The two Agents immediately knew something was up. Agent Brook was very well aware how dreadful club activities were to his nephew, and somehow Styx might have forgotten that he's already in a club for the school year. And though they haven't known her for a long period of time Sage looked like she wasn't the type of person to indulge in said activities. However, Although they were obviously and also unknowingly caught in the act by the two agents, Agent Brook and Agent Kleio unconsciously decided it was best to keep it to themselves.
The quintet left the cafe after thanking and bidding farewell to the owner who was more than happy to have accommodated the three. Just like the other day, Sage hitched a ride with Agent Brook and Daexoen. On their way to Sage's house, the ride was still quiet until both Sage's and Daexoen's phone received a text message from Styx.
Seemingly enough Styx decided to create a group message for the three of them.
Styx: Good thing dad let me stay on my laptop. The second number stopped moving. You won't believe where they are.
Daexoen: Where?
Styx: Highstein. The exact location where the president is.
Sage and Daexoen could help but look at each other. They were both confused with their friend's sudden information. Questions began to linger not only in Sage's mind but all three of them. Why are they together? Could it really be the same person? If it is, how?
The two didn't know that the agent was also stealing quiet glances at the two. He noticed how their reactions changed and how confusion spread across their faces. He knew he was right but he didn't want to intrude. He wants them to tell him but he couldn't also deny how worried he starts to get for them. While the two continue to message the other male, completely ignoring the agent.
Sage: We appreciate the update, Styx.
Daexoen: Let's meet up tomorrow at 7 am by the front gate.
Styx: Copy.
The two hid their phones and continued to look out the window. As they reached Sage's house the younger gave her thanks and hurriedly entered the house.
As the other two reached their own, Daexoen excused himself to get dressed for bed, but was immediately held back by his uncle.
"Daexoen" He started. The other stopped his tracks and turned back to his guardian. "I know the three of you are up to something. I won't stop you but I want you to be careful. Your parents left you with me and I don't want anything bad to happen to you." he genuinely said.
Daexoen sighed, knowing quite well that his uncle was suspecting them, "I know uncle. We'll be fine, and if we really can't handle this on our own. Will you answer our call?"
The agent chuckled before answering, "It's my job" He smiled earning one back from his nephew.
As his nephew left, he couldn't help but watch a familiar video playing on his phone. He looked at it with amazement and guilt.
"I Don't know what you're doing, what you're up against but I don't want you to continue involving yourselves in this. The serial killer is still on the loose, the case is still ongoing and you're already handling another one. And now you're with Styx, and I can't imagine how you three would end up. How great can you be? How far can this team go?" He said to himself as he stared at the closed door of the younger's room.
He let go of his phone and stopped the video. The video of Sage and Daexoen during the incident in their school's cafeteria.
"The real question is, would they dare to call?"
