You three head up to our office." Agent Brook suddenly instructed. "I'm sure you're familiar with the way." The three nodded, making their way towards the head agents' office.
The three silently entered the room, “Don’t you guys think it’s strange.” Styx suddenly broke the silence as soon as they were seated.
The two looked at him confused, “What’s strange?” Daexoen asked.
“How, except for Ivan, every single victim is a female” he said, as he pointed towards the board hanging on the wall of the office where the pictures of every victim were hanging.
The three continued to stare at the victims. Thoughts are flooded with endless conclusions and hypotheses, trying their best to understand such details.
“The females were between the ages of 16-25” Daexoen said, reading the information attached to the pictures. “The latest was Lexie, if you think of it she’s about the same age as Sage.” he added.
The female examined the photos as well, “The eldest is Ivan, who’s 25, followed by Chelsea, who’s 23. The one who died at the cafe” She said, eyeing each individual. “Other than them, the age range of the others is not less than 21 years old.”
“Are you saying the killer could be someone in our age group?” Styx asked them. The atmosphere between the three thickens as they try to absorb the information they have just witnessed.
Meanwhile, with the agents, as the trio left, Agent Lucas couldn’t help but turn to the two head agents of the case. He looked at them curiously. Agent Lucas was a well-understanding individual, someone who understood not to mind the business of other people, but with the three he couldn’t help but be intrigued by their personalities.
"It's not something you should worry about, Agent Lucas." Agent Kleio said first. "Their personality is between them."
The agent sighed, "Alright. About the case." He decided to change the topic, leading the two inside the station.
" The victim was a high school student. Her name is Lexie Haitron. She was found dead in an abandoned warehouse when the academy was on their camping trip" Agent Brook said, as they made their way to the trio. "It looks like she was part of the rose case." He added as they entered the room.
The three agents were surprised to see the completely serious and cold expressions of the three. They winced at the suffocating atmosphere the trio were emitting. Neither one of them moved nor showed any intention of speaking. It was like they were in their own world. A world only they could understand.
“Is something wrong?” Agent Kleio bravely asked them.
And like a trance, the three suddenly acted normal once again. The heavy atmosphere shifted back to its neutral state and the three’s expressions turned into a more bland look. The two head agents looked at each other, understanding there was definitely something going on with the three. Something they should know about.
“Nothing’s wrong, dad.” Styx answered, as he took his focus off the plastered photos.
Seeing the unwillingness to confess of the three, the agents didn’t bother to push forward with the issue.
“I heard about the incident at your camp. Are you three alright?” Agent Lucas asked them.
“We’re fine.” Sage answered before turning her attention towards the two agents. “I, however, would like to know why we’re still here?”
The two males agreed with their friend, “ Let’s face it, uncle. This killer is difficult to find.” Daexoen added, leaning back on the chair he was seated in. “He didn’t leave any clues in the previous cases and he didn’t in today’s” he frankly told them.
The agents looked at them coldly, “Are you suggesting we leave the case alone? Wait for them to get tired of killing other people?” Agent Kleio asked coldly.
“No. What we’re trying to say is we’re spending each day in this station talking it all out but in reality there is nothing to gain here.” Sage bluntly said.
Before the two agents could refute Agent Lucas held them back, “Enough” he scolded them. “I understand the case is going to a dead end but let’s not go hopeless here.” He told the three before turning towards the agents. “You need to understand how stressful this is for the three. They’re high school students, not agents" he said, making the two lower their heads.
“I guess we were too fixated with the case” Agent Brook mumbled.
Styx sighed, “We’re not saying this case is totally hopeless, but you need to understand that you don't always need us in every case,” he explained.
Honestly, this has been in the trio’s thoughts lately. How they are always rushed to the station and pulled into something they know they’re not particularly needed. It was a waste of their time as well as the efforts to accompany them there. It seems like today was the day they let it out.
The followed silence was quickly ruined by a phone call Agent Lucas received, “Agent Lucas.” He greeted the other person. “Right now?” They heard him say. “I’m on my way.” He said before ending the call.
He looked at the quintet in the room, giving them an apologetic smile, “I need to leave. Surely you can continue this on your own,” he said before attempting to leave. “I’ll see you around” he told them before exiting the room.
An awkward silence was left between the three and the two agents. The awkwardness remained for a few minutes before the agents decided to break it with a short apology.
“We admit we were a bit keen on the case that we didn’t bother to understand you” Agent Brook started.
Agent Kleio nodded, “I guess we were too harsh.”
The two males smiled, “You were getting a bit annoying.” Daexoen teased his uncle.
Styx chuckled, “And you were becoming more strict,” he told his father.
“Alright, we get it.” Agent Brook said, laughing at the easy calmness between them.
Unfortunately, although they were not better, Agent Kleio couldn’t seem to get his mind off of the scene the three were on when they entered the room. It was an unusual scene that he couldn't help but ruin their little talk.
“Before we entered the room you three were in deep thought” he suddenly said, making everyone pause.
Agent Brook turned a bit serious as well, “Right. Is there something we need to know?” The agent asked them.
The three looked at each other. Silently questioning whether or not they should relay this information to the agents. They weren’t sure themselves if this hypothesis was correct. They didn’t like the idea of rushed confirmation. They wanted to be accurate with their data before presenting it in front of them.
Seeing the three hesitate, the agents couldn’t help but feel upset, “You agreed to tell us everything.” Agent Kleio said.
“The situation is different, we're not accurate” Sage answered for them.
Unexpectedly, agent Brook suddenly slammed his hand on the table, creating a loud sound surprising everyone in the room. He was looking at them furiously.
“Enough excuses. We admit we were harsh on the case with you, but right now this isn't about the case” He started before looking at them intently. “You three were hospitalized, injured because you didn’t disclose anything to us before,” he added.
“We don’t want that to happen again. We’re agents, not to mention we’re literally family.” Agent Kleio told them. “Now, you three tell us what you know regardless of the accuracy, or no one leaves this room,” he coldly answered.
The three looked at each other. They understood where the two agents were aiming for. And it seems they were determined to get them to spill the truth. Seeing as they were left with no choice, the three nodded towards each other. Silently agreeing to disclose the unsure information.
“Alright” Daexoen started. “We-”
“Agent Brook.” Timing was indeed perfect for the newly arrived agent, cutting whatever it was Daexoen was about to confess.
The five looked at him, “Agent Trevor. Could this wait? We’re in the middle of something” Agent Brook frustratedly answered.
“I apologize Agent, but there’s someone looking for you,” The other agent said.
Agent brook looked at him confusingly. He didn’t remember anyone he was to expect except for the trio.
“Who?” He asked the agent.
However, before the agent by the door could answer, someone directly entered the room.
“Me” a female said, presenting herself at the quintet with such enthusiasm.
“Vienna?” Daexoen said as he stood up from his chair, shocked to see the newly arrived female.
