The three were heading to their distinct classes. The two still were overjoyed by the youngest's acceptance. It wasn't a direct confession of friendship but knowing her it was more than they expected.
Sage, on the other hand, was a bit late for her classes given the far distance from the engineering department and the high school campus but luckily she was understood by her teacher.
Two days have passed but the trio continues to drown themselves with the current case.
By lunchtime the trio were again seen inside the main cafeteria. Compared to the previous years, students were swamping the cafeteria, most just wanted to get a glimpse of the infamous ‘genius duo’ who are now apparently joined by another. The three have been together for days that it wasn't unusual for the other students to see them together.
Although there were a bunch of students eager to 'befriend' them no one seems to have the courage to walk up to them. It wasn't because of their shy personality but because of the serious and deadly aura coming from the trio’s table. It was like the air told them not to disturb the three.
The three sat there in complete silence. Ignoring everyone that wasn't included in their small circle. Although they had plates filled with their food, the table was mainly packed with books, papers and a laptop taking up the space barely any left for their plates and food.
The silence was suffocating, "I don't freaking get it" Daexoen frustratedly said.
“My head hurts,” Styx said as he massaged his temple.
Both male were losing hope for this case, it was annoying and confusing and their patience and temper could only hold off for a few moments.
"Styx, can you check the numbers?" Sage said.
Styx sighed looking at his laptop, "I just checked. The president is still here while unknown isn’t in the radar. I think they turned their phone off” The other answered.
And like that an idea suddenly occurred to the youngest of the three. She looks up to the male in front of her who was busy typing off on his laptop.
“Styx, can you hack into the president's phone? Like, retrieve some deleted text? Or see her messages?" The youngest asked.
The other paused before looking up at her, "Yeah I think so, why?"
"If this unknown person and the president aren't the same person then maybe they could be accomplices? What if that number contacted the president."
Hope suddenly sparked from the two hearing the female’s suggestion. Both Sage and Daexoen get up from their chairs to stand behind the other as he tries to intrude on the president’s phone.
Their food is long forgotten with the sudden improvement in their case.
When Styx successfully entered the president’s phone instead of enlightenment, they were left more confused and distraught seeing the retrieve messages received by the president.
"What the hell?" Daexoen said
Unknown: Why are you with him? I told you to stay the hell away! He’s mine!
Unknown: Who gave you the audacity to touch what’s mine? He’s mine! Jonathan’s mine! Touch him again and I’ll kill you
Unknown: How dare you laugh with my Jonathan?! Leave him alone! You and that girl are both attention seeking sluts! I will kill you, you slutty b***h!!
Unknown; I'M GOING TO f*****g KILL YOU, YOU HORNY SLUT!! WHY WOULD YOU KISS HIM?! I WILL KILL YOU!! I’LL MAKE SURE YOU’LL REGRET!
"Whoever this is, is one freaking psycho" Daexoen muttered.
“Same number with the unknown." Styx said as he reviewed the numbers of the one Sage received. "So they’re really different people? And this person is also threatening the president. This just got way more confusing" Styx complained.
Sage grew quiet. She looked at the screen as if she was trying to make sense whatever situation they were in. She doesn’t like being confused. She was used to knowing things as they’re being presented to her, but right now she’s as stuck as glue.
"Exactly, I was so sure it was her." Daexoen agreed, "But it's like the president is a completely different person," he added.
The female froze on her spot after hearing the other’s comment. She starts to analyze the pieces of information they’ve been collecting for the past few days. She starts to cross out their failed theories and conclusions. And then she remembers the bits of information she got from other people.
‘I remembered she left by car but by the time she left it wasn't even 15 minutes when she suddenly went back to the school on foot’ She remembered the guard said.
‘She does live at Highstein! It's really far from here, it takes her about 2 hrs to travel,’ she remembered Kylie said.
‘She has quite high-grade lenses. She had them since we were in Elementary’
‘Hey, you might never know, She might have a doppelganger’ Styx said that one time.
'It's like the president is a completely different person' Daexoen’s last statement became the eye opener of the case
"I got it,” She suddenly said.
The two guys paused and looked at her with confusion. Silence reigned on them as they waited for her to say something. As she was about to say something when Kylie suddenly bursts into the cafeteria calling out for them. She looked scared and her face was covered with tears flowing down her cheeks as she quickly scanned the hall for the trio.
“Sage! Daexoen! Styx!” She yelled as she found the three, looking at her with pure confusion.
Kylie stormed to the trio’s table, not caring for the weird stares and loud whispers of the other students. She was obviously distraught.
The three looked at her strangely, “What’s wrong?” Daexoen asked.
“Margaux. I can’t - I can’t find her” She started. She was trying so hard to keep her composure but failed as she gently guided herself to sit down on one of the empty chairs in their table.
“Hey, calm down. Here, Drink this” Styx told her as he handed her a glass of water which she quickly accepted.
“What happened?” Sage asked again
She slowly places the glass down before looking at the three, “I can’t find her. I’ve checked the college cafeteria, All of her classes, even the ones in the afternoon, The club room, the council room, even the bathroom. She’s not here. Please we need to find her, she might be in trouble” Kylie frantically exclaimed.
Styx raised his eyebrow, “Why are you so worried? She might have just gone out of the school for lunch.” he said.
She excessively shook her head, “No. She always tells me beforehand that she is leaving." She immediately dismissed his suggestion. "And as I was looking for her, she suddenly texted me this. The moment I got it I knew something was wrong. You need to find her.” She said as she handed them her phone. She was in tears, pleading for the trio's help.
Margx: Hey Kyls, Don't forget the things you need to buy for our cooking project tomorrow.
3 Peppers, gelatin, Pressed ham, Peas, Tissues, clean towel
2 Shrimp, Beans, Flour, Spinach
1 milk, egg
They looked at it weirdly, "Groceries?" Styx said.
“But their Engineering students, why would they cook-- She’s in trouble” Daexoen then suddenly understood the text as he was questioning it.
They got up and started to fix their things as fast as they could before heading out of the cafeteria.
"Why are we leaving?" Sage suddenly asked as she saw the two frantically moving.
Daexoen stops so does Styx before eyeing the younger female, "She needs our help Sage." Styx calmly said
Sage looked at him confused, "But isn't the police--"
"We'll call Uncle Brook and Uncle Kleio before we get there," Daexoen insisted. "Sage, we agreed to help them." He told her, seeing the younger still hesitant to leave.
She sighed before getting up, "Alright." She said, as she gathered her things as well.
“Wait! What’s happening?!” Kylie asked as the two boys started to sprint.
Sage held her shoulder, “Kylie I need you to listen to me. The three of us will look for her, if we’re not back and she arrives before we do, stay away from her. Do you understand?” She suddenly told her as she walked towards the exit, while the other two was already by the cafeteria’s door.
Kylie looks at them, bewildered, “What? Why?” She exclaimed.
“Just don’t trust her!” Styx yelled as they left the cafeteria sprinting towards the parking lot of the school.
