Chapter 26: Poison... Again...

"I called Chief, they're on their way." Agent Kleio said.

Agent Brook nods at his partner before turning back towards the trio, "Everyone else is already in a different room, including your aunt" Agent Brook informed them.

The three looked at each other curiously, "Why are we here? Aren't we supposed to be with them?” Sage asked.

The agent sighed, "We need your help, you know that." Agent Brook told them.

Daexoen however couldn't help but disagree with one thing."But Styx, I don't want him to get involved." he insisted, guilt was still consuming the teen.

Styx raised an eyebrow at the other, “I thought we were friends? Let me help" he whined, wanting to help them.

Daexoen however wasn't fully convinced, "But--"

Styx cut off his childhood friend's words, "You two are involved, I should be too. We’re in this together.” He insisted.

Sage sighed at the two's bickering, "Let’s just be careful." She said, causing the two to go silent. "Styx, Can you try to access the video footage of the hospital? Both inside and outside with a radius of 200 meters." Sage instructed.

The agents looked at them confusingly, "Video footage?" Styx’s father asked. Watching his son, who was carefully placed by Daexoen on the stool, take out his laptop and placed it on top of the lobby’s counter.

Styx grins at his dad, "Let's just say I'm good with computers dad" he answered as he started to type on his laptop different codes.

His father looked at him with complete awe. He knew his son was good with computers. He was studying as a computer major but he didn’t know that he was that good at computers. He looked at him happily typing on his keyboard. His enthusiastic smile, his sparkling eyes as he glanced at the different codes he typed in and the movement of his fingers was like a pianist moving a piano’s keyboard. Kleio understood what Sage meant the other day about his having fun. His son was genuinely happy, and as a father his heart swelled with warmth seeing his son’s smile.

On the other hand, Agent Brook stared at his nephew who was carefully examining the victim with his female friend. He looked at him with complete pride. Although he was very vocal about his concerns and worry for the boy’s safety, he couldn’t help himself feel the bursting emotion of pride for the boy. His only nephew looked like him, he remembered the female student said to him. She was right, he looked like him, he looked like how he did when he first entered the corporation. The determined and enthusiastic flow of emotions. He couldn't be any prouder than he is at that very moment.

He feels the arm of his partner warped around his shoulder, “They grew up well” He heard Agent Kleio say.

He chuckled at the man's words, “Yeah. It feels like it was just yesterday when we were playing cops and robbers with them” he answered, which the other laughed at.

The other stopped laughing but the grin on his face was unstoppable, “They make a great team don’t they? I don’t know about you but something about the three of them feels right somehow.” Agent Kleio answered.

He looked at the three again before looking back at his partner, “You’re right. Seeing the two of them with her just feels like they’re complete somehow.” He agreed.

The two stayed quiet looking back at them. They were silently letting the kids do the initial work knowing that they were useless as of now. They just waited for them to call if they were needed and listen to their sudden conclusion.

Brook can’t help but examine the only female of the trio. She looked so innocent while trying to examine the victim’s body. She had this cold and serious exterior, the way her eyes gave such an empty void. He couldn’t understand how such a beautiful young lady could have such a cold and empty look. Except for her exterior, he also couldn’t deny the impeccable knowledge the youngest of the three had. She was beyond her years but he couldn’t also forget the conversation the three had a day before. He recalled the curious and clueless looks of the younger when the two tried to explain the process of feelings to her.

Agent Brook was pulled back from his thoughts when he heard the voice of his nephew who was talking to the female.

"Poisoned..." Daexoen said after looking at the victim. "Again..."

The female nodded "Yeah. But it doesn't look like it was cyanide as well." She answered, looking at the victim's body.

"His ways of killing aren't brutal, he makes sure they don't suffer as much but would still feel the slow pain." Daexoen stated.

The female turns her attention to the Agents, "Agent Brook, do you have a white glove with you?" she asked

The agent knew far well what her intentions were. "Here." Yet he still reluctantly handed her the pair of gloves.

"I won't touch the victim. I'm not that clumsy just so you know." she said after seeing the reluctant look of the two agents.

"What are you doing?" The five looked at the newly arrived agents, the two leading the rest were Agent Yuan and Agent Lucas.

The two teens grunts at irritation seeing the conflicted agent once again. Agent Yuan had this aggressive tone that didn't quite set right with the two, even Styx annoyingly looked up from his laptop to see the unwanted agent.

Daexoen rolled his eyes, "Helping. But if you don't need ours then we'll gladly leave." Daexoen answered while Sage just stood there looking at them.

Agent Lucas held the shoulder of his partner, stopping him from reaching the two teens. "Don't, Yuan" He told him before looking back at the two. "We would be delighted to have your assistance" He said to them.

"Sage, Daex. I got the footage." He told them, in which the two gladly took a look. "The cameras inside and out of the hospital are acting fine except for the cameras in the bathrooms on the second floor. They are cut out of the systems, someone must have cut the wires." Styx answered with a more serious tone.

Before any of them could answer, Agent Yuan gave a quite offensive comment, “Last time I checked there were only two of you. So another brat joined your group. How irritating.” He taunted, earning him multiple death glares from the two agents.

Styx raised an eyebrow at him, he certainly didn’t like the attitude Agent Yuan gave them. He didn’t like how they belittled them, especially calling him a brat without even knowing the student.

"What a prude but worthless one." Styx thought to himself.

Irritated at the agent's comment, Sage couldn't help but look him dead in the eyes. "I'm sorry, agent but why are you here?" Sage asked him.

The agents were surprised at the youngest's question, "For the case of course." He confidently answered.

"But as far as I've remembered the head of this case is Agent Brook and Agent Kleio. Agent Lucas is the chief agent which makes sense why he's here but you're just his partner on the field you're not needed to be in this investigation." She bluntly told the agent, causing him to turn red on the face. "We don't have a criminal in which we most definitely don't need your brawn. Your intellectual capacity is not high enough for this type of case so you really are of no use to us here. If I were you I would shut up and mind my own business." The female coldly answered.

Embarrassed at the female's words, Agent Yuan couldn't help but stare her down. "Mind your words kid, I'm still a cop." Agent Yuan threatened.

Daexoen scoffed at his comment, "And a very immature one. Your boastfulness is quite irritating, if you're really bothered by us being here then we'll leave. But since we're actually useful around here, why don't you?" Daexoen refuted.

Before the agent could talk back, Agent Lucas stopped him, "Enough. Agent Yuan, I think it’s best if you wait in the car" Agent Lucas scolded.

The other agent was dumbfounded, "But-- Fine” he reluctantly left the building not before glaring at the three students.

"I'm sorry he-" his apology was quickly cut off by the youngest.

"We don't need your apologies." she harshly said before turning her attention back to the older male's laptop. "Styx, try to check the camera footage of the time from 2:00 pm to 2:20 pm, both in the hospital entrance and the stairs to the second floor either going down or going up."

As Styx was going through the footage, Agent Kleio seemed to realize one thing. "Can't we just ask for the footage of the hospital? Why do you need to hack them?” he asked.

"That is true, but the Security room is at the top floor of the building, and it would take time to talk to the hospital’s head as well as the head of security. Not to mention, we also need video footage around the hospital, which are from the stores and traffic lights. It would take about a day to talk to the people who manage them, and I think having it now would be of better use and less amount of time wasted.” The youngest explained.

"you know you could get in trouble right?" Agent Lucas informed them.

"We know, but unless you have any evidence that we did it you can't just accuse us." Daexoen calmly said before pointing towards a dislocated camera, one of which was now directed towards the other direction from their spot. "We're not stupid. Plus, unless this footage was used against defamation I don't think we'll have any trouble." He continued.

The agents grew quite impressed with the trio's fast actions. It was like they were always a step ahead of themselves. They clearly know what they need to do before even being told to do them. What an extraordinary group.

Sage on the other hand, slowly walked up to the body of the poor victim. She tried to remember any strange behaviour the victim had before collapsing and ending up dying in front of them just a few minutes ago.

She remembered her drinking a bottle of water, she recalled she got a weird glimpse of the bottled water the victim drank from. She quickly looked for the bottle, which was on the couch where the victim was sitting before.

She called out for the male's attention before handing him the bottle. Daexoen and her carefully examined the bottled water. Slowly opening it when she noticed a weird liquid substance by the cap of the bottle. The mouth of the bottle was covered with the same substance.

Both then realized what it was. “It’s poison.” They both said in chorus, catching the attention of every agent in the room.
