The trio were immersed in their own world. Like Sage, Styx was a bit shaken up, although close to breaking down, he managed to prevent his tears from flowing down.
Daexoen, was a bit overwhelmed. Clueless about the fore-mentioned fight his friends had when he was gone.
“Hey, I’m fine,” he said, letting go of the hug, “I was just gone for half the day and I found out you two fought?” he said, looking at the two intently.
Sage lowered her head, trying to avoid eye contact with the other male. She wasn’t upset or anything like Styx thought she would be. On the contrary, she was the exact opposite. She was avoiding him because she felt guilty. She admitted not being open about her feelings and opinion about Dae’s disappearance. She felt as if she was being insensitive.
Honestly, the real reason why she decided to look for the missing male was because she wanted to prove to Styx that she really did care. She wanted to show them that after everything in her life their friendship did matter.
She admits that she isn't the brightest one in terms of emotions, but for the past month she's been slowly developing herself with other people, or at least with their group. She was getting used to the presence of the two males as well as the two male agents and having one of them missing was a huge difference. She was trying and it wasn't like the other times she remembered saying to her parents, this time she really truly was trying her best.
Styx, on the other hand, felt like his heart was stabbed seeing the female lower her head. He was assuming better yet hoping that when he would find her, she would look at him with her dull eyes like nothing happened. Although it would hurt his ego, it was better than seeing the other down.
The male approached Sage, engulfing her in a comforting hug, "I'm sorry," he started, "I shouldn't have said those things to you."
Sage stood quiet, hands on her side, hesitating to embrace the other back.
Styx let go, placing his hands on her shoulder, "I was being a jerk and I didn't even think about the efforts you made," he said. This time he looked at Daexoen. "I guess I was too preoccupied and worried that whoever was behind the case got him, that I didn't think about you."
Daexoen smiled, placing an arm around both of them, "Well, aren't you two friends again."
Sage grinned, shocking the two when she launched herself at Styx. Embracing him in a tight embrace, "I'm sorry, I'm really trying, you know?"
The other hugged her back, caressing her back and grinning. "I know. And we're proud of you for doing that," he answered, leaning away from the female.
Daexoen held her head, "So proud," he said, messing up her head.
The three laughed at their silly little heartwarming conversation.
"Wait, we have to contact Uncle Brook and dad," Styx said, realizing the lack of agents in the room.
Vienna held up her phone, "Already on it. They're on their way."
The moment she said that, everyone heard a couple of footsteps running towards them. They saw the agents running towards them, Agent Brook way ahead of Agent Kleio.
"Sage! Daexoen!" Agent Brook yelled, engulfing the two in a tight hug.
"You two! Just this morning I just dropped the two of you, then in the afternoon I got a call saying you two are missing?!" He yelled, containing the two in a tight embrace.
Agent Kleio approached them, "Are you two alright? What happened?"
The agents gather around the three, specifically saying the two previously missing students.
"Dae, what happened?" Vienna asked, trying to include herself in the case.
The boy looked at them, "I was walking back to the room from the bathroom when I heard a weird noise," he said, and then pointed towards the room. "I went inside the room because I kind of heard someone talking, but when I went inside I was locked in."
Everyone stood in silence, "And how did you find him? Don't tell me you searched all the floors on your own?" Styx asked the female, realizing how she was the first to find the other, even though she was alone.
"I remember him telling us where his first period was during lunch time. I checked the third floor, but there wasn't anywhere he could've been where anyone would hear him if he was ever trapped," she said, explaining her thought process. "I then remembered the fourth floor being the storage rooms for the clubs. And most of the rooms on this side aren't usually used. I just picked a room, luckily I was right."
The agents sighed in relief, "Alright, I think that's enough for today. Come on, Let's go home." Agent Brook said, gesturing at them to leave. "Sage, I'll drop you home."
"I can do that," Agent Dionne suddenly intervened. "I know where she lives and–"
"I have my things in their house. So, I think, uncle escorting her would be more practical."
Agent Dionne remained quiet. Obviously, seeing the unwantedness the three students had with her. And how the two secured she wasn't left alone with the youngest.
On their way out, Sage and Daexoen decided to take the back seat while Vienna took the passenger seat. Styx stood outside their car, refusing to leave until he sees the other two leave.
“Styx, we’ll be fine,” Daexoen reassured, but the other remained stubborn.
Agent Brook shook his head, “Then we’ll leave? Take care.” he said, starting the engine before driving off.
From the back seat the duo looked at their friend, sighing as they saw how he walked towards their own car. As they traveled towards Sage’s house, Daexoen rested his head on the youngest shoulder.
“It was weird,” he said with his eyes closed, catching the youngest. “I was thinking about the two of you. I was worried you’d blame yourselves.”
“We fought,” Sage said, causing the other to chuckle. “Yeah, I didn’t expect that. But you know we’d never do or say anything on purpose, right?” the youngest nodded, making the male grin as silence once again consumed them.
Agent Brook sat quietly, hearing the little conversation the two had. While Vienna was too tired to understand anything. Her consciousness was slowly slipping away. Her supposed purpose of talking to her cousin seemed to be moved to a later time.
When they arrived, Sage was greeted by her cousin, questioning her late arrival to their home. The other began to find an excuse to tell him. Saying something about a project they needed to do in school and heavy traffic, which the older male did believe in the end.
“We’ll get going. See you tomorrow.” Daexoen said, waving goodbye to the female as he walked back to their car.
“You want dinner?” Jansen asked the tired female.
She shook her head before heading towards the stairs, “I’m tired. I’m going to bed first.”
Late at night, when the two cousins were fast asleep in their own bedroom, Sage’s closet started to open. A tall figure came out, watching the female in her deep sleep from the dark corner. He grinned as he watched over the female.
“You were so worried about him to the point that I didn’t want to hurt him. They’re lucky you value them,” he said. It must have been louder than he intended, as the female started to wake up from her sleeping state.
“Is someone there? Jansen?” She asked, her vision still adjusting.
Assuming it was her cousin, asking her something or talking to someone. She was about to go back to sleep when she thought she saw a figure by her closet door, almost missing him if it wasn’t for her keen senses. Her guard was now up, grabbing the nearest object near her.
“Who are you? What are you doing here?” she asked bravely.
However, the figure grinned, sending shivers to the female. “Guess,” he said before rushing towards the closed doors.
Sage stood up, trying to catch the suspect. Unfortunately, the moment she opened her bedroom door she saw no one. She walked down the stairs, her guard went up high for any possible situation. However, she found nothing but the kitchen window wide open.
“Sage? What’s wrong?” She looked back to see her cousin, worriedly looking at her cousin.
“Nothing,” she said, looking back at the window before closing it. “Let’s go back to bed.”
