"What do you mean?" Sage asked.
"Your mannerism wasn't detectable in one glance, but I saw the way you shift your eyes from one corner to the other. Indicating something was distracting you or you were anxious" the older whispered, making sure they were the only ones capable of hearing. "You weren't going to tell them about the dots in the first place. You were lying when you said you almost forgot. You didn't forget it but something or let's say someone was stopping you to say it beforehand. I want to know Sage. What did you see?" He added
The younger grew quiet at his statement but she then gave a small grin in her mind, thinking of how a mere stranger noticed her in the little manner. It was a small detail of her mannerism yet he saw right through it. She didn't know if she should praise him or fear him for his quick wit.
she sighed before opening her mouth to answer, "I saw--"
"Here is your order" she shut her mouth the moment the owner stepped in their hearing range. "By the way, someone is asking for the two of you," the owner added, after placing down their orders.
The two looked at him confused, "Us? Who?" Daexoen asked
"Her," He answered, pointing towards a girl standing near the counter.
They both looked at the girl, she was clutching her bag on her chest, she was also panting quite hard as if she ran for her life. Her hands were shaking and her hair was a little messed up. She kept looking at the door of the cafe like someone was going to come inside any minute. She wasn't just scared, she was frightened. She had this disturbed yet anxious look that you just couldn't miss, hence the reason why she gained quite the attention from the other customers.
"Can you tell her to come here, uncle?" Daexoen instructed the owner, but instantly looked back at the younger, realizing he forgot to ask for permission. "Is it okay?" he suddenly asked her, who was now drinking the coffee she ordered.
She slowly places the coffee down, "Do I have a choice? This better be interesting." she said.
Greg approached the girl, reluctantly pointing towards the two. With no hesitation she instantly went towards their table almost running just to get to the spare chair.
The two looked at her bewildered at her sudden action, "Are you okay? Why did you want to talk to us?" Daexoen asked
"I'm fine, I'm Kylie by the way we're from the same school" she politely said although her actions were still showing signs of fear.
"Are you-" Daexoen was cut off by the other's sudden action
She held his hand before quietly telling them, "Can we find another place to talk? Please" the female said, almost begging them.
Sage raised her eyebrow, "Why? We can just talk here. Stop wasting our time" Sage irritably said.
Daexoen saw the female begin to tremble, "Sage, you're scaring her more. Let's just agree, we'll stay inside the café."
Daexoen politely asked Greg if there was a spare room they could use for the time being in the cafe. Luckily, he had an extra office. It was quite far from the main store and no one uses the said room. It was a perfect room for them, not only for a private conversation but also to get away from the other customers' attention.
Greg rubbed his neck after examining the room, "Sorry the room isn't quite big, but I'm sure it'll be enough." he shyly told them.
The room was not as small as he claims, however, it was slightly smaller than the average office. There was a table and some chairs in the far back while in the middle there were two small couches facing each other with a coffee table in between, the couches were big but it was big enough to fit two people.
Daexoen tapped his shoulder, "No problem uncle, but as much as possible please don't let anyone in."
He gave him a warm smile before nodding his head, "Sure, take your time. Call me if you need something."
"Thank you," Sage and Daexoen said.
As he left, they immediately shut the door and locked it. They sat in front of the other girl. Their food and beverages were placed on top of the coffee table. There was a small ambiance of awkwardness as they tried to settle down in the company of one another.
Daexoen looked at the still anxious female, "Have some tea, now can you tell us why you want to talk to us?"
"And why does it have to be in private?" Sage added.
Given the advice, the other student drank a cup before looking back at the two. She wasn't sure if coming to them was her best decision but she didn't have any other choice. They were the only ones who could help her. Hopefully.
She placed her cup back on the table, "I know you're confused why a stranger wants to talk to you but I think you're the only one who could help." she started.
"Help? What help?" The boy asked, confused at her statements.
"You see, I know I should have gone to the police but I--" she started sobbing.
"If you knew then you should have gone to them, not to us" Sage plainly said as she bit down the tarts she ordered.
"Sage, let her speak." Daexoen warned.
"I'm scared, I don't even know if they would believe me or not," she said, shaking from her tears.
Sage ignored the male's words, continuing on the harsh confrontation with the other female, "If the police can't help or believe you, what makes you think we can?" she coldly said.
Daexoen held her elbow, "Sage, let's hear her out first." he calmly told told the younger.
The other female suddenly claps her hand in front of them, almost begging at the two "Please! I don't know where to turn to! My best friend, I think something's wrong with her." she cried, tears flowing down her cheeks as she tried to mumble out her next sentence. "We've been best friends since preschool, that's why I'm worried about her," she added.
Daexoen nodded, "Okay, so why are you worried?"
"She's been acting differently this past month. She's sweet, nice, happy-go-lucky. She acts as if she doesn't have any problems in the world. But she suddenly changed these past few months. She was becoming moody. Today she's mean and her temper is high, then tomorrow she would be ass sweet and clingy and normal. And sometimes she tends to forget what she did when she's in 'that' phase. I'm worried if something's wrong with her or what!" she said.
The two looked at each other, "Maybe she's just having her period? I mean no offense ladies but I know some people that tend to get a bit moody on their time of the month." Daexoen suggested but earned quick disapproval from the female.
She shook her head a couple times before answering, "No! She isn't like this on her period. Something is definitely wrong" she insisted.
"Bring her to the hospital. Better yet a Psychiatrist then. Why us?" Sage said
The female shook her head once again, "I tried! She wouldn't listen to me when I suggested that. I can't think of anything else. Please" She continued to beg.
Daexoen motioned her to relax, "Calm down. Did you notice something else? Like when or something new that happened when she started to act like this?" Daexoen asked before signaling Sage to calm down after seeing the female was already a bit irritated with the other student.
"No--" she paused, realizing a somewhat possible reason, "Wait! It started when Mr. Myers became our teacher. I noticed her always looking at the teacher. And she would look at the other students and teachers talking or interacting with him-" She cut herself off as she started to cry even more, alarming the two with her sudden burst of emotions.
"Ms. Hana left the School last week. She was our teacher in algebra. She confessed to us the week before that she started to like Mr. Myers. When we heard that Ms. Hana left I-I heard her whisper something. It was in the lines of she was glad that competition and sluts were now decreasing. I didn't think much of it but-" she paused as she tried to swallow a sob. "She wouldn't be the reason why Ms. Hana left, right? My best friend isn't like that."
"Calm down okay?" They gave the girl a little time to relax, and as soon as she did Daexoen couldn't help but ask her.
After seeing her relax, Daexoen decided to continue interrogating the female, "Now, what did you mean? How can she be the reason?"
"She- she has quite a strong position in our school. She's the Student president of the school. Not only that, her parents also have a lot of connections in the school. It isn't impossible for her to do that." she concluded.
With everything they heard. It really was possible that she was the reason why that teacher left but they were also curious if the male teacher was really the reason why she did that. Could a sweet and nice lady turn into a manipulative psychopath just because of a guy?
The two went silent with the information. She really was acting weird. It was like she was a different person. The first thing that came to mind was really having her checked by a doctor but that didn't work out, how could they help?
They were both cut off from their thoughts when they felt the young lady in front of them suddenly get down on her knees holding both their hands.
She looks at them with pleading eyes, "Please, I know that I shouldn't have brought you into this. That you have no obligation to me but please! I have no one else to run to. Please, I need your help."
