ALLEN SLOWLY opened his eyes. He saw the blurred vision at first so he blinked. The second time he saw the scene, it was already clear.
"Allen," a girl ran towards him and called him. "Allen, naririnig mo ba ako?"
Allen slowly nodded twice. "Hmm..." he responded. "Nasa'n ako?"
"You're at our clinic," the girl named Nurse Cera stated. The nurse looked back at him and started shouting. "Alvin!
There he bombarded the room with his big acts and embraced Allen. "Allen," he cried like a kid. What's with this jerk? "Buti naman buhay ka!"
Allen knuckled his forehead.
He patted his forehead.
It has been two years since they got into relationship. It's hard for Cera to see his boyfriend undergoing on dangerous operation but she got nothing to do because even her earns inside the gang.
"Nakakasura."
"Makapandiri naman 'to," Alvin replied.
"Agree," said Cera.
"I don't need jowa, I need pera dude, be practical," Allen stated. He really focus his attention to his family, his job and protecting their gang leader.
"Be practical din dude, why not earn money with someone you love? Look at us ni Cera, once we're done saving money for our future, aalis din naman kami dito sa gang na 'to and will build our own life."
"Itong si Allen, kagigising pa lang, naga-atichona na naman," Cera told Allen who did not give a damn. "Alam mo in your age, ilang taon ka na nga?"
"Twenty-three this year."
"Yes, twenty-three ka na. Aside from dedicating your life to your family and sa pagiging outstanding butler ni Mr. Ciete, you should also plan for yourself.
Allen directly asked her. "And yeah, I have my future plans. I want to start a business and help my family as always."
"I know ikaw nalang inaasahan ng pamilya mo but could you also look at yourself too? Look for someone who can take care of you in the future."
"0089 is right," a familiar voice with authority entered the room. 0089 pertains to Alvin's gang number. "You should get yourself a life too."
"Mr. Ciete..." Allen tried to sit down but he can't. "My pleasure to meet you, sir."
"0079," Mr. Ciete called Allen. 0079 is Allen's gang number and is one of the founding members of 3rd generation ANG. "Don't push yourself to sit down. How are you feeling?"
"I'm feeling well unlike last time po," Allen still talked with his gang leader with all his respect. "What made you come here, sir? Is there another undercover attack that we will do?"
"You took risk of your life by making yourself left behind and kill every person from the opposite side," Mr. Ciete initiated. "For that, I think I must visit you for the bravery. I want to tell you that you did well on protecting the gang."
Mr. Ciete pat his shoulders. "A big pleasure to hear those words, sir."
"You should take a rest or a leave first while letting your wounds to heal," Mr. Ciete suggested. "If you want, I can book you a ticket to Hawaii."
"No need, sir. I can't wait for my wound to heal and serve you again." Allen smiled. "What I did is just to attest that I can do what I said in my oath. It's included in my job so you don't have to owe me gratitudes, sir."
"If you say so," Mr. Ciete said and smiled. "Then I must not say 'thank you'? Shall I just say good job, right?"
"Thank you sir." Mr. Ciete looked aback and started to walk away.
"You jerk," Alvin called him. "You really are his favorite. Imagine getting a visit from Mr. Ciete, iba ka talaga p're."
"Hoy, Allen," pagtawag ni Cera. Allen looked at her.
"Sana all kasi leader's pet, 'di ba?"
"Tangina mo, Alvin." Allen adjusted his position and closed his eyes.
"Tama 'yan, babe."
"Sige, pag-isahan ninyo pa ako." Allen remained his eyes close.
"Banta ba 'yan? Hindi ako natatakot," Alvin said and smiled. "It's a prank.
"Araaaay!"
"Sige, Allen, aalis na kami. Kapag kailangan mo ng tulong, just press that red button na nasa may ulo mo." Cera looked at Alvin who was crying in pain. "Halika dito sa labas, anong sabi mo ha? Hindi sa 'kin lahat? Gago ka ba..." and boom and ratatat, Alvin is doomed.
---
ALLEN TILTED to his right as soon as he felt so much pain to which area the gunshot bullet was aimed
He held his head higher only to see that his wounds are continuously bleeding. "s**t," he cursed silently. "Anong nangyari dito? Tangina naman."
Iniikot niya ang ulo to seek for the red button he needs to press for emergency. Fortunately, he found it. He pressed the button but there were none who came into him.
"Where are the people?" he asked. He used his right hand as a barrier for the flowing blood. "Tao!" he shouted. "Is there anybody here?"
His shouts were too loud but there were none to rescue him. He thought that everybody might not be awake or already at their home while he is still here.
Allen turned his gaze to his right and saw gauze and a nylon thread. He slowly unwore his upper cloth and started suturing his own wound.
"Who sewed my wound?" he asked himself. "He or she surely did a terrible job."
He folded the piece of cloth near him and put it inside his mouth for him to prevent shouting while suturing his wounds.
Allen continuously twitched while suturing his own wounds. It was really a big job for a person like him who did not enter a medical school but he smiled because he thought he did a great job.
"Nababaliw na ata ako," he talked to himself while smiling like a psycho. He caught the gauze on his hand and put it on his wound. "That's it. Nice job, though, Allen."
His phone rang. Allen reached for his phone and saw the caller ID. It was his mom. He smiled and answered the call. "Ma?"
"Allen!" his mom scowled. "Ano ba? Kanina pa kita tinatawagan, bakit hindi mo sinasagot?"
"Nakita ko nga, ma."
"So, bakit ka nga hindi umuwi?" tanong nito. His mom is the only person he have aside from his two younger sisters. "Kanina pa ako nag-aalala sa 'yo."
"Natulog ka na ba, ma? Tulog ka muna. I know you're tired."
Allen smiled to the thought of him being so lucky to have his mother beside him.
H'wag kang praning. I'm okay."
