Chapter 12

June's Pov I pushed the plate of my soggy cereal aside, forcing down the last spoonful, as I got up, glancing at Joey, who was glued to his phone. "I'm off to see Hannah! For our sleep over night!" I called, snagging my hoodie from the chair. "June, don't stay out too late!" Mum called out from the laundry room. "Got it!" I yelled back, but I didn't think she heard. I dragged my old bicycle out from the porch and pulled the hood over my head excitedly. It worked even though the paint was chipped and the wheels squeaked. I pedalled down towards Hannah's street after getting off the sand. And soon, I was pedaling into Hannah’s driveway. Kyle's bike could be seen leaning onto the porch in the dark when I noticed it. I froze my heart going ten times faster for some odd reason. Why was he here? I asked no one in particular. Sure, there were a hundred reasons he could be. There was a project for Beacon high biker contest. Hannah was a cheerleader for it. I parked my bike next to his and pushed the door open. Everywhere was silent. It was normal for Hannah's mother to be away from home on days she had night shift.. The TV was as usual silent, and the sitting room was empty. I headed upstairs, pushing her room door open without knocking, only to freeze at the door. Hannah was on top of Kyle naked. Her head was thrown back from pleasure while his hands rested on her waist, their groans filling the whole room. "What….what in the world are you two doing?" I muttered in despair. Hannah gasps immediately, her hands flying up to cover her chest, and getting off him. Kyle didn't seem to care, simply rested his back onto the pillow. "Why? My chest collapsed as my voice shaked. "Why would you two do this to me. Hannah?” I turned to her. "We’ve been friends since kindergarten! I trusted you!” Kyle burst into laughter. Obviously what I'd just said was the biggest joke he had ever heard. "What did you do wrong? He answered for her. "Everything, June. You're just pathetic. An ugly duckling, that’s all you are. Do you think that I ever wanted you? All you ever gave me were those awful kisses I hated. Couldn't even f**k me. Do you know how dull you are? If it weren't for Hannah, I wouldn't have even had you stay by me.” My stomach dropped, by a large amount. Did I hear that correctly? "How…how could you…I thought you liked me. You said that, yourself in the school's parking lot before graduation….you made a fool out of ....” "Come on, June.” He interrupted me. "I only dated you because of a bet. Yeah. A f*****g bet. Can you believe that? We wanted to see who could screw the ugly duckling first. Guess what? I won. That’s all you ever were to me. A game. And I've been dating Hannah for a long time now, just so you know. The whole school knew. The only i***t who missed it was you.” My legs gave out as I tried to steady myself. He couldn't be joking right, dating Hannah, after he'd announced to the whole school that I was his girlfriend. I turned to Hannah hoping he was lying. "Tell me Hannah, please. Tell me that he is lying.” But she shook her head slowly from guilt, tears filling her blue eyes. "I... I’m so sorry, June. He’s telling the truth. Kyle and I... we’ve been together for a while now….well, before I came back to Beacon Hills. He and I met online. That's the real reason I came back. I....I was tired of you getting bullied all the time. I was tired of how everyone treated you. When Kyle approached me about the bet, I thought... I thought if I went along with it, maybe things would change. Maybe people would stop picking on you and you'd finally fit in." At that moment, I wanted the floor to open up and swallow me. I didn't ask her to do any of it for me. And just like then. I felt the same hurrible feeling again. Seeing Adrien again after days of him being away from home, and seeing him arrive at dinner eve before the wedding celebration with Roxy. My chest tightened. And I felt cold come over me. Such.... asholes. I muttered silently. I can't believe I'd been fooled again. Mom was right. Nacho was right.... I should have stayed low. I hated that it was Roxy who did this to me. She knew all along that Adrien was my soon to be step and still played me. Pretended like she had my back. I thought I could trust her, but I'd only been fooled again. I thought I'd learned my lesson after what happened in Beacon Hills. Apparently, I'd not. I felt like slapping Adrien hard across the face, including yanking Roxy's hair out for deceiving me and making a fool out of me but then again all I could do, though, was sit there at the dinning table looking at them like the fool they believed me to be. Mom pushed her chair back immediately she sited them. Mr Blackwood looked pleased at their arrival but tried to hide it. "Adrien." Rally called excitedly. "You made it." Mom said blithely walking over to them with a smile. "Thank you for coming. Come, dinner is already served." She said ushering them towards the table. I kept my eyes down as they took the seats opposite me, refusing to look at either of them, as Mom placed food on their plates before serving herself. "I'm glad you both made it before dinner was over," Mum said. I moved my food around my plate, pretending to be interested in it. "Everything looks beautiful, by the way." Roxy said. "It's been so long since I've been here. I don't think I've been here since I was ....hmm...six. You must be excited Lena" Roxy said looking around. Mum looked surprised at how she knew her name, but quickly waved it aside. "I am truly. Nervous too," Mom giggled. "But mostly excited. It's such a beautiful place. I could honestly stay here for weeks. How'd you stop coming here?” Mom asked curiously. "My dad used to bring me here during the holidays," Roxy replied. "But then he left us for some cheap b***h who couldn't keep her hands off a married man." Mom's smile faded. "Oh, I'm.. I'm so sorry." "No it's fine." Roxy shrugged. "It was a long time ago." "I'd like to use the restroom," I said immediately, pushing my chair back. Mom, Mr Blackwood, Roxy and Adrien turned to me. "Is everything okay dear?" Mom asked. "Yes." I nodded. "I just really need to use the restroom." I said and before she could ask anything else I walked away from the table into the restroom, locking the door behind me. I leaned against it letting out a shaky breath. Good grief, I hated this terrible feeling. The terrible feeling of, I don't know why my heart feels like it been ripped from my chest. I swallowed, which sounded suspiciously close to a sob. Not even twenty-four hours. That had to be some kind of record. I slowly pulled out the pills from my skirt pocket Adrien had tossed into my hands back in his room and stared at it. Then in seconds after rethinking everything had it drowned into my mouth.
