Luna Gabby’s POV
The door creaked open, and Chesa walked in, looking worn and bloodied. He staggered slightly, his hand gripping his side.
“Chesa!” I rushed forward. “Where is Lira? Did you find her?”
Chesa winced but waved me off. “ We couldn’t find her.”
“What do you mean? She’s not there?”
“No,” he said, his voice thick with frustration. “We searched the entire forest. No sign of her, and Hilda’s too.”
I felt a weight hit my chest. “You’re telling me you couldn’t find her? After everything? We searched for so long…”
Chesa collapsed into a chair, his men lingering behind him. “We were ambushed,” he muttered, clutching his side.
“Ambushed?” My voice rose in panic. “By who?”
“Not now, Gabby,” he said, gritting his teeth. “I can’t say much yet.”
I stepped back, my hands trembling.
