"...Liam!"
Then, he suddenly came back to his senses .
He shook Olivia's hand smiling to ease the tension.
"Nice to meet you"
Olivia nodded
"Same here"
Suddenly, the air changed!
The class became quiet
A pair of polished black heels clicked rhythmically against the marble floor
Click...
Click...
Click...
A stunning, attractive white haired girl stepped in, her academy uniform tailored flawlessly, every strand of her white hair perfectly in place.
She carries herself with effortless confidence as though the room belonged to her
It actually does!
This was her territory
The whole school was her territory.
She had stepped in like a tigress marking her territory, as if to tell her rivalry folks to beware and ward off.
She drew the attention of the entire class as every eye was glued to her.
Charming!
Elegant!
She acted like a top celebrity who was used to attention.
"Who's she?"Olivia whispered, obviously feeling intimidated by the lioness's presence
"Mia" Becca replied " The academy's queen bee"
Right!
Little wonder her presence was so full of aura
If aura was a word, it was her!
"And most importantly..." Liam added
"Asher's girlfriend"
A teacher finally stepped in.
" Alright students, welcome back to another semester." he started before he finally looked at the students
"Matter of fact, this is your last semester"
Cheers and claps erupted
"That's enough" Professor Hugh waved it off
" well, we have a new student amongst you guys which is quite rare and strange since you all are in your last semester but nevertheless, let's welcome Olivia Holloway"
Olivia's heart sank!
She slowly stood up and made her way to the front of the class.
"Please introduce yourself, Olivia"
Olivia was hesitant
What else do they want to do aside her name
" hi"
She started
"I'm Olivia Holloway and I possess pyrokinetic abilities"
Gasps and whispers suddenly erupted
"Pyrokinesis?"
"Wow! That's so cool"
"Silence!"
"Let's see what she can do with her powers" professor Hugh turned to Olivia
"Go on, Miss Holloway"
Olivia prayed the ground would open up and swallow her.
How on earth is she going to explain that she hadn't mastered her powers yet.
Anxiety kicked in.
She had to do something.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
She was trying to focus.
She counted from one to ten.
Nothing!
She'd begun to hear frustrated murmurs from the students
"What's she doing ?"
"She's wasting our time "
Her heart was literally running away from her, abandoning her in this crucial moment.
"calm down " she whispered to herself
Still...
Nothing!
"Oh my God! She can't use her own powers!"
Someone suddenly yelled
The whispers increased.
Gasps, disappointed grunts and growls filled the air .
She suddenly felt like crying.
She was trying to calm down but it wasn't working, she was losing control of her emotions
Suddenly she felt a wave of anger and frustration.
Why wouldn't her own powers listen to her!
Anger kicked in
And that was when it happened!
...large fire spikes shut out of her hands.
She suddenly screamed in terror as well as the entire students.
She began throwing her hands all around trying to put off the fire spikes.
The process burnt some students instead as they all shrieked and withdrew, protecting theirselves from the fire.
The fire spikes finally stopped and the whole class was brought back to normal in an instant.
"I'm... I'm so sorry"
She apologized and quickly scurried to her seat, next to Becca's.
"Are you okay?" Becca asked, concerned.
Olivia nodded "yes"
She was not!
She had just burnt almost the entire class and now everyone was looking at her like she was some monster from hell with fire powers sent to intentionally t*****e them.
The classroom was loud.
Too loud.
Voices overlapped like broken radio frequencies, each one demanding attention it didn't deserve.
Owen adjusted his glasses without looking up from the book resting on his desk.
Page 417.
The chapter on telekinetic resonance was inaccurate.
He reached for a pencil.
Before his fingers touched it, the pencil floated gently into his hand.
No one noticed.
They never noticed the little things.
A burst of laughter echoed from the back of the room.
He didn't bother looking.
There were exactly thirty-one students in his class.
Twenty-three of them laughed at the new girl.
Five pretended not to.
Two genuinely felt sorry for her.
One...
Hadn't stopped thinking about her since she walked in.
He closed the book.
"Humans are predictable," he thought.
"Embarrass someone once... and they'll remember the embarrassment longer than the courage it took to stand back up."
His eyes drifted toward Olivia.
She sat quietly by the window, pretending to read.
She hadn't turned a single page in nearly eight minutes.
She wasn't reading.
She was trying not to cry.
The bell rang.
