Chapter 15- Xander

1913 Words
I’ve been told many things about soul mates, but no one can ever prepare you for what it’s like in real life. The fear I sensed coming from Isabella’s pack when she showed up was almost deafening. Thankfully they quickly realized that she was on our side. But the downside to her showing up… the rogues knew what she could do now. If they weren’t trying their hardest to get her, then that will definitely not be the case now. The weird thing was, some of these wolves were in a normal strength range. Not sick and skinny like usual. They still stink. Thankfully and unfortunately. But something wasn’t right. I was just starting to take notice of that when the thunder started, signaling the arrival of my beautiful mate. Her power was unmatchable, and her strength was very impressive. No one stood a chance. Impressed by this, I started to fight my way over to her. I couldn’t help the twinge of annoyance at the fact she couldn’t take simple instructions of staying put. That would have to change. I was about halfway there when things started to take a turn for the worse. The lightning coming down wasn’t just hitting the rogues. It was hitting out troops too. She was starting to lose control of herself. Wolves from both sides were starting to steer clear from her and that was making her angrier. The wind was so strong; even I struggled a little to push through it. That’s when I saw the tornado ripping through the campground. Tents flying everywhere, hail ripping through the tops. I had to stop her. It took a few more minutes but finally I made it to her. I needed her to say something. Fighting with all of her strength to get through me, I was luckily able to keep her at bay. (If that’s what you wanted to call it) “GET OUT OF MY WAY” Her voice screams inside of my head. Thank the Goddess she opened it. I just managed to notice Frankie behind her waiting for the right opportunity. He and I had the same thought. If we didn’t get her under control, her anger was going to be the death of us all. “Isabella, I know you're angry! But you have to calm down. Your rage has started a tornado! Please listen and calm down!”, I call out to her via mind link. Thankfully my voice triggered the reaction I didn’t realize I desired so much. The sound of my voice; however small, triggered a reaction of calmness. Just enough to distract long enough for me to get the upper hand. Pinning her down I scream out ‘Now!’, not even knowing if Frankie can hear me, but thankful he understood anyways. He places a hand on her head from behind (he definitely wasn’t going to be in range of those long canines she has), and starts chanting something so quick that I wasn’t even sure what he was saying. I almost don’t notice it working until she’s almost back to her human self. I shift back before she passes out completely. “It’s alright Bells, we can get through this”, I whisper softly in her ear after a soft apology from her. I don’t know why I called her Bells, but it seemed right. Once she was fully knocked out; the storm started to slowly fade away thankfully. I picked her up bridal style and started running back to the castle; Frankie closely behind, knocking any enemy away. I took her straight up to her room and laid her on her bed. I was trying my hardest not to notice that she was naked and laying in a bed. I can’t think about that right now (even though Chief was making it incredibly difficult.) I searched through her dresser and picked out a pajama top and matching shorts. I couldn’t help but notice how organized and neat it was. I got her dressed and got out of that room as fast as I could. I couldn’t help but notice the little smirk on Frankie’s face. I'm not embarrassed that I’m naked. It’s honestly a natural thing for werewolves, but what isn’t natural is the fact that I’m standing there with an incredibly large b***r. I roll my eyes at his amusement. “I'm going back out there. Please watch her and make sure she doesn’t leave.” I plead with him. “Don’t worry. She won’t wake up for at least a few hours. Go and get some clothes. The King and Queen announced the rogues retreat as soon as we got inside. I’m sure that the second Isabella wakes up we need to have a war council. I’ll alert the pack leaders once you come back up here.” And with a wave of a hand he dismisses me and heads into my mates room. I walk out the front door and shift immediately. I didn’t need someone else to notice the b***r I’ve got, especially her parents. Talk about embarrassing. I head down to the main floor and walk outside. Frankie was right. The fighting had ceased, and there was only a slight drizzle left over from the storm fiasco. Luckily my tent was spared from the tornado, but the hail did its fair share. Once inside, I shift and put on a clean pair of dry clothes. “Kyle, where are you?” I mind link him “Well I’m currently trying to help get some tents up and replaced, you know… the ones that were destroyed by your very thoughtful mate.” He replied with a hint of annoyance . “She didn’t do it on purpose!” I growl back. “Meet me in the meeting rooms in two hours. They called a war meeting. It may be moved up depending on when the Princess wakes up.” I shut the mind link down after that. I know she has no control over it but we can’t let this happen again. I make my way back up quickly to Isabellaa’s room. I wanted to be there when she woke up. Plus it will help but Chief at ease, since he’s been on my case for leaving Frankie alone with her while she was in a vulnerable state. I personally felt I could trust Frankie. He hasn’t proven me wrong yet anyways. I get up to the top floor and I’m about to knock when the King and Queen come around the corner. I bow my head in respect and submission. “Your Majesties” “Please! No need to knock. We are all here for the same reasons” Brook says with some exhaustion evident on her breath. Were they fighting as well? I nod in agreement and the three of us head inside. I stay out of the room as her mother goes to check on her. Her father and I grab a few beers and sit down in the living room. “So Xander, I know of your accomplishments, titles, and I know your parents; But I don’t seem to understand why you never had a mate until now. You’re a very powerful, and large alpha. How come you didn’t get a mate until my daughter?” King Roland says with a swig and a hint of curiosity. “I guess only the Goddess knows, your majesty. I’m honestly curious about it myself.” I say back. It was true I was curious as to why now. And I’m also curious as to why we are mates when we both have incredibly strong powers. That hasn’t been heard of ever happening. To be fair, a royal having powers is unheard of. We sit and talk just to pass the time. Thirty minutes later; Isabella and Brook come out of the room and sit with us in the living room. Absolute relief washes through me and a deep breath; I didn’t realize I was holding in, escaped my lips. I smile in her direction which is received (however slightly). Roland gives her a big hug and stays standing while she sits down across from me. “I am relieved you are okay my dear, but before we go down and explain to everyone what the hell just happened, you have some serious explaining to do. You can start off with what the hell you were doing on that field in the first place. Then you can explain what the hell just happened to me because then we have to go down and explain it to all the pack alphas and everyone else who is meeting us down in that room in less than an hour!” By the end of his speech he was yelling and Isabella was cowering farther and farther down into the chair, trying to hide. I don’t blame him for being mad. I couldn’t help it myself. Now that I one hundred percent knew she was okay, I couldn’t help but be angry at this situation as well. We didn’t realize the true extent of her powers, and unfortunately we got a taste of it at the wrong time. “I wasn’t planning on going out there!” I couldn't help the little growl I released at her lie. I don’t know how I knew, but I definitely knew it. “Okay, fine. I was planning it. But as I was watching people bring in wounded I went and helped them instead. I was doing just fine until I saw our first casualty and I just lost all sense of control. I know sorry doesn’t cut it, but I couldn’t help myself until Xander was able to get inside of my head.” I got to say, hearing her say that does make me a little smug. Knowing that I can help her like that makes me feel accomplished, and happy knowing she can’t ignore the bond. Even though she has been trying very hard to. “Well fine. That’s just great.” At this point the king is pacing. After an awkward pause, he finally stops. He gets a mind link and from the looks of his face he just got the same news I also received from Kyle. “I have some good news and some bad news. The bad news is we lost almost fifty of our warriors. The good news is that we killed more than triple that of their numbers. The hospital is filled to the brim though. And after the meeting we should come down and help. Also you’ll be happy to know that none of our wolves died of a lightning strike or anything weather related.” I look over to Isabella and give her the news about the weather via mind link and I can see her visibly relax a little knowing that she isn’t the cause of any of our wolves passing away. Luckily for us that meant some angry pack leaders, but not angry enough to leave. “Everyone is starting to make it to the meeting hall. I need to be able to greet everyone. Brook my dear, please come with me. You two, join us in thirty minutes, and please come up with a very good apology speech. You will need it” Roland said before they took their leave, and just like that we were left in another awkward silence. Great.
