~Kyson~ I throw another punch at the bag in front of me, feeling my muscles loosen even more than before. I’m Kyson Nichols, the Gamma of the Blackpelt Pack. I took over the pack with my best friends, Andre Greer as Alpha and Ario Banks as Beta. As the Gamma of the pack, my focus is security and training. I’m not the only ranked member who handles training sessions, but I do many of them. I’m the person who the warriors answer to. I decide on the top warriors, and I make sure they are doing what the pack needs them to do. I set up guard rotations to make sure pack members are safe every day. I take my job very seriously, and I’m grateful to have it. We all grew up together and recently took over for our fathers. We were going to wait a bit longer and take over at 25, but Andre finding his fated mate had us step in two years early. Luna Rain Andrews is a wonderful woman, and she fits right into our group. I love watching Andre and Rain together. They make the mate bond look so easy. The love they have for each other is something I’ve seen among our parents, and it’s something that I’ve always wanted. I’m not in a rush, per se, but I am looking forward to finding my fated mate. I swing again, missing the bag altogether this time. I stumble forward, trying to keep myself from falling. Laughter hits my ears, and I roll my eyes. Once I steady myself on my feet, I look at the other side of the bag and find Ario bent over, laughing uncontrollably. “Very funny, asshole.” Ario continues to laugh for a minute before straightening his back and wiping his eyes. “I couldn’t help it. I came in and called your name a few times, but you didn’t answer. You were so out of it, I had to take advantage.” I shake my head and walk to the side to grab my towel and water. “You are so childish. At some point you need to grow up.” There’s no force behind my words, and Ario knows this. He’s the joking type, always has been. Andre can be super serious, and you can find me somewhere in the middle. “Let’s go man. I’m hungry so we need to go eat lunch.” “You know that you can eat without me, right?” Ario claps me on my back and pushes me forward. “I could, but then that wouldn’t be much fun, now would it.” I roll my eyes and follow him out of the gym. ⥁⥁⥁⥁⥁⥁⥁⥁⥁⥁⥁⥁⥁⥁⥁⥁⥁⥁⥁⥁⥁⥁⥁⥁⥁⥁ Lunch was an event as usual, and now we are l sitting in Andre’s office. Andre was serious, but loving with his mate. Ario was cracking jokes and making everyone laugh. I enjoyed the scene and those who were surrounding us. Looking around the room, my heart warms. I have to say that I’m pretty glad I grew up with this group. I’m sure many would say this, but we are the best trio. We work well together, get along great, and we know enough about each other that we can read each other; no words needed. Ario, Andre, and I have always had each other's backs. We’ve always known that we wanted to take over for our fathers and do the very best for this pack. I consider myself lucky to have been born with Gamma blood and to be surrounded by these great guys who want to see the pack succeed just as much as I do. We are deep in pack matters when the door opens, and the Luna walks in. Andre stops immediately, and his face radiates love. I sit back and watch them greet each other as if they haven’t seen one another for days. “Luna Rain.” She looks at me from Andre’s lap and rolls her eyes. “If you don’t quit with all of that. You know we aren’t formal around here unless absolutely necessary.” I don’t bother to fight the smirk growing on my face. Rain is a laid-back person, which is probably why she fits so well with us. She jokes with us often and is extremely down to earth. I don’t think anyone else would have been able to be by Andre’s side. She was truly made for Andre. “What’s going on, beautiful?” Rain settles against Andre, but addresses all of us. “I just wanted to let you know that a few acquaintances will be stopping by soon. I grew up around them, and they’ve been wanting to come by. They will be here for dinner.” For some reason, Rain’s words have my wolf, Brec, standing at attention in my mind. “That sounds great baby. Do you need anything from me?” Rain shakes her head and leans forward to kiss Andre on his cheek. “No. Everything is set up. I just wanted to let you know.” He nods, and Rain leaves not long after. Ario rubs his hands together with a gleam in his eyes. “So there are going to be new hens in the house. That’s exciting.” I roll my eyes and punch his arm. “Get a hold of yourself. They are Rain’s people and we won’t be going after them like it’s sport.” Ario huffs and shakes his head. “Maybe you won’t be going after anyone, but I have no problem see what’s out there.” Ario is always trying to test the waters and see what’s out in the world. I guess that isn’t a bad thing, but it’s a bit much. I’m not going to say that I’m a virgin or anything, but I’m not one who will sleep with just anyone and everyone. I have criteria that I go by and won’t hesitate to turn women down. I’m not trying to push my numbers up or sample every piece that I come across. The three of us keep working and talking through the afternoon. We are usually doing our separate duties, but every so often we gather like this and get things done. We trained with our fathers a lot and loved their style. We put our own spin on it, but credit them greatly. This is a great pack, and we want to keep it that way.
