CHAPTER 9 – EPIPHANIES The door swung open. Before them there was a very old man, bald and with a very long beard. He was really thin, sitting on the ground with his legs crossed, at least so it seemed since he was covered with earth up to his navel and only his knees were sticking out. Knees on which his bony hands were resting with their palm facing the sky. He had no clothes whatsoever. His eyes were closed. He was still. “Are you sure he’s still alive?” Pedro checked, worried. The Dean nodded “Look carefully at his eyes.” Only then did they notice the movement of the pupils under his eyelids marked by time.
