Chapter 6 : The accident

1040 Words
Riya's POV : I took the sketch book in my hand and looked at the pictures I had drawn. First picture was of my mother, the second picture was of my pet dog I had before and the third picture was of Theo. I sighed keeping the sketch book down, when I first met him in the library I was intrigued by him. His forest green eyes, messed up blonde hair, chiseled jaw and luscious lips everything about him screamed perfection. After giving him the book I was reading I was not in the mood to read anything else so I took out the sketch book planning to draw something but my hands had their own accord and drew his face. There was something between me and Theo that was pulling us together but for his own sake I needed to stay away from him. When I was waiting at the park, I saw my step brother's men on the other side of the park which made me panic. I shook my head clearing the nostalgic thoughts. Taking the folder in my hands I took out the poster size image of my childhood picture which Theo had got me. I pasted it on the wall opposite to the bed and caressed it smiling. He is so thoughtful and sweet, I whispered to myself. "Mom, I miss you. I really wish you're here. Everything is so confusing," I said, touching my mom's image. I sat on the bed and started to sketch again. Grabbing my sketch book, I started to paint his face and that's when my phone rang. It was from Theo. I turned off the phone before keeping it down. I continued to paint and lost count of the time. By the time I ended and looked at the final piece I was so mesmerized. It felt like he was there in front of me. I got down from the bed and kept the sketch book on the table to let it dry before laying on the bed. I closed my eyes with a soft smile playing across my lips. "Mom, I think I'm starting to like Theo," I whispered before falling asleep. The following week went in blur. I was busy with school and helping Ms. Ann in the gathering. I got to know that Theo had gone on a vacation from the locker room talks. Rumours spread faster than fire in this school. Even when it was me who asked Theo to stay away I couldn't help but miss seeing him around. I was hoping to catch a glimpse of him and his forest green eyes but as always the universe was not in my favour. By the time the weekend rolled down, we were all set to conduct the memorial. Everything about the memorial went well and the cake was delicious. I gave Ava the second plate of cake and Ms. Ann looked at us, narrowing her eyes as we both smiled sheepishly before bursting out into fits of laughter. As it was nearing 10pm I bid goodnight before leaving for my room. The next morning I woke up with Ms. Ann knocking on my door. I opened the door yawning, "Yes, Ms. Ann? I asked. "Riya, can you take care of the library today? I don't know what happened but Ava is coming down with fever I guess. Also I thought of closing the library but we're receiving books from donors today," she said looking at me worriedly. I rubbed my eyes before saying, "Okay Ms. Ann, don't worry I'll take care of it." She sighed a breath of relief before giving me the keys. "I have my spare keys," I said smiling as she put the keys back into her pocket. I got ready lazily before locking my room and walking to the library. The day went really slow and I was so bored. By the time the delivery package arrived it was way past 7 pm. I called Ms. Ann, and informed her that the work had been done and I'll be back late. After disconnecting the call, I locked the library and pocketed the keys before walking. I went to a small cafe nearby. After ordering a caramel mocha latte I sat on an isolated table on the farthest corner with my back facing the entrance door. As the waiter placed my order I murmured a small thank you before taking out my journal. I started to write, sipping on my coffee. I wrote down every detail I knew so far as I thought about what I was missing. Time passed as I worked my brain. Keeping the phone down, I sighed. "s**t," I muttered as I looked at the time on my phone. It was way past 11 pm so I walked hurriedly picking up my pace. I turned around in a small alleyway and walked keeping my head low. As I heard footsteps behind, my heart beat palpilated. I wiped the sweat off my forehead and continued to walk. I quickened my pace before starting to jog. Suddenly a hand clamped on my mouth as another pair of arms held my hand twisting it painfully. I thrashed and struggled as they tried to carry me. I headbutted the person behind me before kicking the other and started to run as fast as I could. Someone grabbed my hoodie cap and pushed my head on the nearby wall which made me stumble in my steps. As I took the pepper spray out of my pocket I sprayed it on the person before running again. My head throbbed but I willed myself to run. Turning around I found a small car and hid behind it taking a deep breath. I shook my head to clear my foggy vision and dizziness. As I heard footsteps approaching, I pressed myself close to the car. I closed my eyes murmuring a small prayer. As the footsteps became distant, I waited for a few minutes before getting up. My legs gave up and I fell onto the floor. Taking a deep breath I tried again but all I saw before succumbing into the darkness was a very familiar forest green eyes staring down at me…
