Days had passed since the incident at Mondeu and Lincoln has been on edge, waiting for the call he knew was on its way. He just doesn't know when.
To ensure that they don't get any surprises Lincoln informed Larry that if the king does visit unexpectedly he would have to ring up and inform them before letting the group up. Larry was reluctant because he would be defying a king. But Lincoln ensures the guard his safety with his own royal status which puts the man at ease.
