Chapter Seven

1017 Words
Sophia’s POV I couldn’t believe that I had just said that to the lycan. It happened out of a sprint second, off my subconscious. It felt good but I couldn’t seem to understand where I got such courage from. All my life I had been rejected but not anymore. But then, he rejected my rejection. I found it hard to understand his reasons. I went into my room and lay on my bed awaiting dusk. I had to visit Yata but I doubted if the Lycan would let me leave the pack house. He might think that I planned to run away from him. Night fell and the maids came in to do their normal duties. After having my bath, I requested that my dinner be served in my bedroom. It would be weird sitting with him at the dining table. “Your meal my lady.” Said one of the maids. I nodded as I stretched forth my hands, receiving the food with a warm smile etched on my lip. I noticed an injury on her right hand, sprouting out drops of blood, I couldn't ignore it. “Are you alright?” Gesturing to her bleeding arm. “Oh why, Yes.” She responded immediately, dragging the sleeve of her garment to cover it up. “You shouldn't be doing that. Sit and I will help you clean up.” I said to her. Her almond eyes lit up the moment she saw me stand up to help her out, “Oh please my lady. I will either be banished from the pack or fed to the vultures if you do this.” Her eyes were heavy with tears which she was holding back. “What do you mean by that? Who did this to you?” I asked, I was just curious not like I was able to fight whoever was responsible anyway. I observed her negligence. Calm and innocent as a dove yet hurt so brutally. “What is your name?” She stared at me one more time. “Char, My lady.” “Char please let me help you.” The door flung open as we spoke. “I’m sorry my lady, It is time to oil your feet.” A maid who looked quite advanced said. “Char,” She had a stern look on her. Seems she wasn't happy to see Char around me. The atmosphere was awkward as it seemed as though Char wasn't feeling quite comfortable having the advanced maid around. “I’ll pass for tonight, thanks,” I said, discarding her almost at once. I got a message from Yata through the mind link so I had to go down to her’s at once. The woman left and I was left alone with Char once more. “You looked scared, why?” I questioned. “It is nothing, my lady. I have to take my leave now.” Despite not wanting her to leave, I just had to let her go after all, I had to be at Yata’s place in a few minutes. After Char left, I picked up my coat, grabbed a furry hang bag, and hung it on my shoulder. I couldn't leave through the main door because I might bump into the Lycan and I wouldn’t want to engage in any kind of conversation with him. After successfully sneaking out of the pack house, I went straight to Yata’s house. “Sophia, what is going on? Are you alright?” Yata’s eyes roamed my body, her eyes unsteady. “I rejected him.” I spat with my head tilted to the ground. “You did what?” Yata’s eyes bulged out as she dragged me inside. I groaned in pain, reacting to her firm grip on my wrist. “Don’t say that outside. How can you reject the Lycan? No one rejects him, Sophia.” Yata said. I remained calm thinking about how I’d break it to her that I had already done the rejection. “Listen here Sophia, my advice to you now is to calm down. Why don't you sit with him and have good communication with him? Don't you think that will work out?” I heaved a deep sigh. I had begun feeling quite unsure if I could honestly confide in Yata. “Alright. I have to go now. Aiden must be searching for me already and I didn't inform him that I would be coming here.” That was the perfect excuse to escape Yata. Wild thoughts ran all over my head. Boris also, made me understand that I needed to step up my game with Aiden. The whole place was still and calm. The pack guards stood still at their various positions. I had to hide myself behind the bushes very close to the entrance. I heard some noises in the bushes but I had to remain still, despite not being sure if I was in a safe spot. All of a sudden, I felt something huge crawl around my feet, enveloping my calf with its cold body. I felt my heart drop into my stomach as I immediately jumped out of the bush. It took me a minute to finally understand the consequences of my impulsive action. My eyes bulged out, I stood there shaky. But the guards seemed to be so focused on their various duties. It was more like I had appeared so invisible to them. Taking a step further, none of them flinched. I had become invisible to them somehow. A part of me was excited about not being caught. But then, I couldn't understand how I suddenly became invisible to them. “Am I dead?” I questioned aloud, running my warm fingers on my cold, bare arms. My heart raced, and adrenaline surged high. Lost in confusion, I walked up to one of the guards and poked his chest but he didn't flinch. Waving my hand to and fro at his face, he remained focused. I swallowed hard because this only meant one thing but I wasn't quite sure about it.
