Chapter 2:The morning after

"Helen,please talk to me!" Melinda pleaded as she followed after Helen to the cafeteria.

Helen totally ignored her. She was so angry with her friend that she decided to not talk to her as Mel's punishment.

"Helen,I'm so sorry hun that I left you alone. I..." Helen interrupted her,"Yes,you were busy screwing Jeremy Carter and forgot about your best friend. Now that I think about it,may be you don’t consider me as your friend at all.If you did,you wouldn’t leave me alone drunk and helpless with those stupid boys.Do you know how Yuri reacted when he learned that I slept with his brother? He called me a cheap girl.And now he wouldn’t talk to me!"

Apparently Melinda did not know any of these things.Even though the three friends spent the night in the same place,each of them was immersed in their own world of the previous night.After confronting Yuri at the downstairs of Jeremy Carter's house, Helen ran outside crying and sobbing.There she saw Melinda standing outside waiting for a taxi.Even though she found solace in that moment seeing her friend, after reaching home she almost punched her.

"Yuri is just being a jerk.Don't bother about him.But Helen,his brother is nice, right?" Melinda's lips curled up in a nasty smile.

Helen smacked her arms."Don't even talk about that asshole!"

"You should feel lucky, hun -to lose your V-card to such a gorgeous hunk." Melinda whispered.

"I'm going to kill you,Mel!" Helen gave her a death glare.

"Why are they looking at me like that?" Helen mumbled as she took a bite of her sandwich. They were sitting in the cafeteria. Students, especially boys around her age were sneaking glances at her . Some even whistled.

Melinda shrugged,"I don’t know.Kids at our school are known to be weirdos."

After the lunch break, they were returning to their classroom. While walking in the corridor,a tall boy stopped Helen.

"What?" Helen snapped. She was already irritated with everything. Seeing Ricky , another i***t jock who chased after her was not helping at all.

" I heard,no, actually I saw that you like big boys." He smirked.

Helen rolled her eyes."Cut the crap, Ricky. What do you want?"

" Why don't you give me a chance to spend a night with you, sweetheart? I have a party too tonight." he said smiling ear to ear.

"In your dreams,dipshit!" Helen spat,then pushing him away, she walked to her classroom with Melinda.

" What the hell is wrong with with everyone?" Helen mumbled under her breath.

They faced the same thing in the classroom. Their classmates were looking at their phones,then stared at Helen as she entered along with Melinda, with grins in their lips.

"What's going on here?" Helen asked with curiosity . In reply,they all laughed.

One of the girls from the front row came up to them and showed Helen her phone . "Look for yourself "

It was a video. A recorded one. In that video, Helen was straddling Denver's lap while their tongue danced together. She was hugging his neck with her arms as they passionately kissed ; her short black dress had lifted up quite a bit, showing her undergarments. To make it worse, Girls and boys surrounded them,cheering up with whistles. To say she was shocked would be an understatement.

"Jesus! Is that you, Helen?" Melinda exclaimed,her palm covered her open mouth.

Helen never felt this embarrassed before."Who uploaded this video?" Helen asked the girl.She could barely control her anger.

"I heard that it was Yuri McCarthy." the giggling girl said.

"What the f**k,Yuri?" Melinda smacked his chest as soon as they found him in the parking lot near his car. "Why would you do something like this to her?" she growled.

Yuri had a stoic expression in his face.He glared at Helen who was standing behind Melinda.

"And why would she sleep with my brother? Do you know how disgusted I felt when I heard this? " Yuri seethed.

"Helen didn't know that Denver was your brother in the first place. And you shouldn't have even recorded the video in the first place,asshole.Now everyone is tormenting her because of it." Melinda scoffed.

"I recorded it.What’s the big deal?" said a smirking Jeremy stepping beside Yuri.

"What's the big deal?! Jeremy,I didn’t think you would be as moron as this jerk blondie." Melinda said as she looked at Yuri begrudgingly. "Delete those videos,or else I'll make you pay for this." with that saying she turned back to Helen."Let's go, Helen."

So long Helen remained silent.Just before they were leaving, she said to Yuri,"I thought we were best friends, Yuri!"

But Yuri McCarthy looked away.Their friendship was over.

With an upset mind, Helen walked along with Melinda towards the exit.

"Don't ponder over it too much, hun" Melinda rubbed her friend's back.But Helen continued to stare at the ceiling above.

"It’s all my fault.I shouldn’t even have gone to that party." Helen mumbled.

"No,Helen.It’s never your fault. You didn’t even want to go there in the first place.Yuri and I forced you." Melinda consoled.

"I don't know , Mel -I feel so embarrassed. What if my mom comes to know of this? She is going to ground me for years!" Helen

said sitting up on the bed.

"Your mom won’t know anything if you just keep quiet.Isn’t she busy anyway?" Mel said.

"No,mom is coming back tonight. "

"Tonight?!"

"Yes,tonight." Helen sighed.

"You gotta cheer up then.Just seeing your grumpy face your mom will know something's wrong." Mel nudged her,"C'mon"

"What are you going to do?" Helen says as she gets down from her bed.

"We're gonna watch a comedy show."

When they were in front of the television, Helen's phone beeped.

"Mom has sent me a text." Helen said leaning against the couch.

" Well,what does she say?" Melinda said not removing her eyes from the TV screen.

"Weird,she says she had to cancel the flight for an emergency. She will came back two days later .

School in the next day was boring as always.Aside from dealing with the same old troubles her classmates caused the other day,Helen spent the entire day thinking about the party night.She felt she needed to talk to Yuri one more time.But he was absent in school that day.In her History class,she saw Kyle who took the seat behind her.He was Yuri's one of the close friends.

"Hey,Kyle...do you know why Yuri isn't coming to school?" Helen asked, turning towards him.

"He won't be coming anymore." Kyle replied with a sigh.

" But why?"

"Because he is leaving the State."

Helen was in shock."Is he that upset with me that he can't stay in the same state anymore?"

"Well,I don't know the actual reason for his leaving. He seemed pretty upset though."

Turning back,Helen slouched down in her seat as the bell rang.To her,it seemed Yuri has been obviously overreacting over the whole sleeping with his brother thing.Now he is leaving without saying any words to her or Melinda.

"Mel,did you know Yuri is leaving the State?"Helen said as soon as they reached the ice-cream shop after the school.

"What the hell! He didn’t even feel the need to tell us about it?" Melinda shrieked.

"He isn’t even picking any of my calls!" Helen sat at their usual table that faced the street.

"Asshole!He is completely overreacting. Don’t worry about him, Helen.He will know in time what good friends he is losing. " Melinda said hugging her friend.

On the other side of the city in McCarthy household,big cardboard boxes lay on the floor as Yuri McCarthy stood before his elder brother, his face red with anger.

"You got so many girls ready for w*****g themselves out to you ,but you had to screw Helen out of all girls!"he exclaimed.

Denver was getting irritated from the continuous rant of his little brother. " We talked about this before,Yuri.I said- I didn’t know she was your best friend. It's not that I planned beforehand to sleep with her.Why can't you get it inside your thick head?"

"Because I f*****g liked her!" Yuri blurted out.Then without any more words, he stomped out of the house.
