Angela finally reached her small apartment, the door clicking shut behind her. She kicked off her shoes, dropped her bag on the couch, and sank into it with a tired sigh. The day had been long, and the nerves from the interview still buzzed faintly in her chest.
Her phone buzzed in her hand. She unlocked it and saw a new email notification — from Argent’s Corp.
Curious, she opened it.
Subject:Internship Offer — Argent Corporation
Dear Angela,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been selected for the internship position at Argent Corporation. Please report to our headquarters by 8:00 AM sharp tomorrow morning.
We look forward to having you on board. Kindly come prepared to meet the team and start your journey with us.

Argent Corporation
Angela’s eyes widened. She hadn’t expected to get a response so fast, and definitely not an official offer email already.
Her heart raced. Tomorrow, 8 AM. This was it — the start of everything she had hoped for.
She smiled to herself, already imagining the new life waiting for her.
Angela’s fingers flew over her phone screen as she quickly typed:
Angela:Laura, guess what? I just got the internship!!! Official email from Argent’s Corp — I start tomorrow at 8 am sharp!!!
Before she could even blink, her phone buzzed with a reply from Laura:
Laura:Omgggg!!! That’s huge! I’m so proud of you! You’re going to kill it!!!
Angela:Thanks, girl! I’m so nervous but also excited! Wish me luck!
Laura:You don’t need luck. You got this! Can’t wait to hear all about it.
Angela stared at the email again, her fingers trembling slightly. This was more than just an internship — it was a ticket to the life she’d dreamed of.
She grabbed her journal from the table and flipped it open, pulling out her favorite pen. With a deep breath, she began to write.
"Tomorrow is the first step of the rest of my life. I’m nervous, but ready. I want to prove I belong at Argent’s Corp — and maybe, just maybe, show Mr Argent I’m more than just an intern."
After journaling, Angela stood by the window and looked out at the city lights flickering in the distance. The streets buzzed with life, but her mind was already racing ahead to tomorrow.
She double-checked her outfit laid out on the chair — professional but stylish, just like she wanted. Confident, cute, and ready to own the room.
Tomorrow was going to be a big day, and she was ready to face it head-on.
---
Angela’s heels clicked sharply against the polished floor as she walked into the sleek office building, nerves fluttering in her stomach. Today was her first official day as an intern at Argent Enterprises. She smoothed the hem of her blouse, took a deep breath, and headed toward the reception desk.
The secretary, a sharp-eyed woman in her thirties named Ms. Daniels, smiled warmly as Angela approached.
“Good morning, Angela. Welcome to your first day.” Ms. Daniels tone was professional but kind. “Before you settle in, I need to let you know your office has been moved.”
Angela blinked in surprise. “Moved? But… I thought I was supposed to work from the open-floor intern area?”
Monica nodded. “Mr. Argent requested it. He said he wants to keep an eye on you.” She handed Angela a key card. “Your new office is on the top floor. Just take the elevator up and turn left. It’s the only room on that floor.”
Angela’s heart skipped. The top floor? Where Kevin Argent’s office is?
Curiosity and nerves mixed as she stepped into the elevator and pressed the button for the 15th floor. The ride was silent except for the soft hum of the machinery. As the doors slid open, she walked cautiously down the hallway.
At the end, she found the door marked “Ms. Angela” To her surprise, the door was slightly ajar and inside, a tall figure sat casually in a plush office chair — it was Mr Argent himself.
“Ah, Angela Martins.” He smiled, his calm voice sending a chill down her spine. “I was just testing the chair.”
Angela smiled nervously. “Looks very comfortable.”
Kevin stood, brushing his suit jacket back into place. “I thought it best to move you here. Less distractions. I like to keep an eye on my interns personally.”
Angela bit her lip but nodded, not sure how to respond.
Kevin waved a hand toward the door. “I’ll be in my office next door. Make yourself comfortable but not too comfortable.”
She stepped into the small but elegant office and sat down. The leather chair creaked softly beneath her as she looked around, absorbing the luxury and quiet. A sense of pressure settled in — all eyes, all attention.
Soon, Kevin called her in.
“Angela, I’ve got a stack of documents that need sorting — contracts, reports, invoices. I want everything organized into folders by the end of the day. Think you can handle that?”
“Absolutely,” she replied, determined.
The afternoon hours slipped away as Angela sifted through papers, organizing meticulously. She glanced at the clock and realized it was almost noon.
“I should take a quick lunch break,” she thought, stretching her arms. She grabbed her bag and headed to the office cafeteria.
Inside, the room buzzed with midday chatter. Angela spotted a familiar face — Christiano, a friendly guy from marketing she’d met briefly on the elevator.
“Hey, Angela!” he waved. “How’s your first day?”
“Busy, but good,” she smiled. They started chatting about the office, favorite lunch spots, and the crazy boss, Kevin Argent.
Their light conversation was suddenly cut by a loud, sharp voice nearby.
“Well, well, if it isn’t the newbie.” Vivian,a colleague in the office who has been trying so hard to be noticed my Mr Argent and two other women who people labeled as her minions lounged near the corner table, whispering and sneering.
Angela felt her cheeks flush as they made snide comments about her fashion, her confidence — everything. The gossip escalated quickly.
“You think you belong here? Let’s see how long you last,” Vivian sneered.
christiano then said“ignore them, they're not worth it”
But Angela stood her ground, voice steady but firm. “I’m here to work hard, not to compete with petty jealousy.”
The argument grew heated, drawing glances from nearby coworkers.
and Angela didn't want too many attention on her first day so she finally excused herself, flustered.
She checked her phone. Oh no — her lunch break was over by almost half an hour! She had lost track of time.
Rushing back to the office, she scrambled to finish organizing the folders before Kevin noticed.
She organized the folders as soon as possible
she then knocked Mr Argent's door
“come in” he said in his deep husky voice
Angela then dropped the folders on his table and he didn't spare her a glance but checked the folders and said
“Angela, these are late. And some are incorrectly labeled. What happened?”
Her heart sank. “I’m sorry, Mr. Argent. I got caught up at lunch.”
“This is an office Angela, not a playground”
He studied her expression, then sighed. “This job requires focus and discipline. You’re capable — don’t let distractions get in your way.”
Angela nodded, biting back frustration and embarrassment.
As Angela returned to her office she promised herself to prove she was more than just an intern — she would be indispensable.
