The interview

Chapter 2: The Interview Angela adjusted her blouse nervously as the elevator climbed floor after floor. Her resume clutched in one hand, her bag slung neatly over her shoulder, she tried to calm the storm swirling in her chest. As the elevator dinged open on the top floor, a soft *ping* echoed in the hallway. She stepped out onto lush carpeting and into complete silence. She reached the door and knocked. A pause. “Come in,” a smooth, cold voice said. Angela stepped inside. The room was stunning — floor-to-ceiling windows with a view of the city, clean lines, a glass desk, a towering shelf of books and awards. And behind the desk… was him. Kevin. Wearing a deep navy suit, cufflinks glinting under the light, his expression unreadable. He barely glanced at her before returning to the file in his hands. "You’re here for the internship interview?" "Yes, sir. Angela Martins." He motioned to the chair in front of his desk. “Sit.” Angela sat, crossing her legs neatly, maintaining a confident posture. But inside, her heart was in her throat. Kevin looked up at her — really looked — for the first time. His brows twitched, like he wasn’t expecting… whatever she was. “Tell me about yourself,” he said. Angela nodded. “I just completed my degree in Mass Communication from Waverly University. I have strong interests in marketing strategy, branding, and digital media. I’m very driven and I—” “You talk fast,” Kevin interrupted. Angela blinked. “Sorry.” “No need to be. Just slow down.” He leaned back in his chair. “This position is very competitive. Why should I pick you?” Without hesitating, Angela met his eyes. “Because I know I’ll be an asset. I don’t just want to learn — I want to contribute.” There was a moment of silence. Kevin tilted his head slightly. Something about her intrigued him, though his face gave nothing away. “I see,” he said finally. He stood. “You’ll hear from the secretary by the end of the day. You can go.” Angela stood too.“wait ,what?” “you don't have any further questions for me?” Kevin responded coldly“Yes, Ms Angela Martins,I've seen enough and that will be all”. she then said worriedly “Thank you for your time, Mr Argent” He didn’t respond. She turned and walked out, steady heels against the carpet. The moment she stepped back into the elevator and the doors closed, she let out the breath she’d been holding. Little did she know — Kevin was still staring at the door, a curious smirk pulling at the corner of his lips.
