3: Saved By Grace

I awoke to the sound of people cheering from a distance with loud bands and fireworks. The celebration for the mating ceremony had already started.
I was going to miss it if that would be the thing which would bring back my sanity. Having to see my mate getting officially mated to someone else was a huge no for me. I would not be present for it.
The sounds started to get even louder as I stood up to shut the window. When I had done that, I fell back into the bed to sleep which was not possible for me as the emotional pain started to get to me.
It was so unbearable I could barely close my eyes to rest. All I could do was turn around and groan for the pain to stop.
I started to wish I could kill Alex with my hands for this betrayal. He had taken away my title and demoted me to a regular wolf. That was a very big slap and an insult to my face.
Having had enough with the embarrassment of being a normal wolf I decided to come to a conclusion. I would leave the pack the next day. That way I would be able to live a peaceful life without seeing his face again.
The day went by slowly and painfully but before I knew it night had arrived and it was time to get some sleep.
I had not eaten anything throughout the day due to my pain and sleeping seemed like a chore.
I could only stare at the windows before me.
A knock on the door startled me as I wondered who would be on my door by this time of the night.
Wearing a robe, I walked to the front door to get the scent of a familiar body. Opening it, I found Sasha smiling with her guards stationed behind her.
“Seize her,” Sasha ordered the guards who burst through the narrowly opened door, grabbing me by the hands.
“What is this?!” I asked in terror. “What is the meaning of… Unhand me this instant!” I yelled as Sasha entered the house removing her gloves with an air of authority about her.
More guards entered the house which made the room we were standing in very small for our number.
“Hold her steady,” she ordered the guards who did that, intertwining my arms in theirs as she slapped me on both cheeks multiple times. “How many was that?” she asked the guards who shrugged as they were not counting.
“Very well,” she smiled, wearing her gloves back. “I lost count after fifteen as well.”
“I will skin you alive for what you’ve done to me!” I yelled in anger struggling against the grip of the guards. “Do you hear me?! I will do it and I will feel no remorse about it! Do you know who I am?!”
My best friend since childhood laughed while looking around my home in a disgusting manner. On a normal day I would have broken out of the holds of the guards but somehow, I felt weakened.
“How does it feel to be on the other end of power?” Sasha laughed. “To know you no longer have the power to do whatever you want while I have the power to destroy you where you stand.”
“You have no idea what you’ve done. Wait till I get out of here. I’ll show you what I am capable of.”
The new Luna laughed loudly, “You fool. I did not come here to battle words with you. I am clearly here to show you who is more superior between us and that is clearly me.”
I struggled even more against the guards to no avail. They were stronger than before and I could feel my strength slipping.
“Take her into the forest and kill her,” the woman ordered the guards.
This was shocking news. What was this madness? Why would she do such a thing?
“Sasha, what are you doing?” I asked as the guards dragged me out of the house. “Sasha!”

Deeper and deeper into the dark forest they took me as I tried to get away from their grips. Only two soldiers came with me as they had unsheathed their swords ready to use it when they needed.
Channeling my inner might, I tried to connect with my wolf self but I found out I could not do that.
I could not call upon my wolf for help, instead all I could do was struggle against the guards as they led me away.
Trying to shapeshift was pointless as well. It felt like I had been drugged, but somehow, I had no proof or memory about how it happened.
“Where are you taking me?” I asked, feeling drowsy and having no strength to fight back. “Answer me now.”
They ignored me, refusing to say anything as we headed deeper into the forest.
When they had gotten to the middle of the clearing, they left me alone to fall in front of me with clasped hands and their heads bowed, shocking me even more.
“What are you doing?” I asked, confused as to why they would do this right now. A few minutes ago they had been ordered to kill me, and that was why we headed all the way here, but that wasn’t happening right now.
“We are sorry, Luna,” the lead guard said with sincerity dripping off his voice. “We are very sorry if we have hurt you in any way and we still see you as our Luna. We swear our loyalty and love to you. We still know you are the rightful Luna to that throne.”
“What?” I gasped wondering if this was some sort of trick.
“Even though Sasha is our new Luna, we cannot see her taking that title away from you. That is something we give to you and no one else. We love you so much and would never harm you. You are too precious to us.”
“It is not only us that feels that way but a lot of people feel that way towards you too.” He continued and tears sprang to my eyes.
“Having to see that woman get mated to the alpha churns my blood but I know there is nothing I can do to give you your place back on the throne so all I can do is advise that you run. Run away so you may live.
“If you run away, you will definitely live and please never come back… at least for now, until things cool off. Sasha is a crazy woman and she would do anything to make sure you do not live again. So please run away.”
I looked from his face to his subordinate’s face and the sincerity there was true. If they wanted me dead they would have done that already but instead here they were on their knees begging for me to leave so I would live.
That was one of the best things anyone had ever done for me and I was grateful. They were willing to sacrifice themselves for me even when I was no longer their Luna.
“Thank you so much,” I breathed a sigh of relief knowing they were not going to kill me. They stood to their feet, giving one last bow before they started back for the pack.
That was my promise to them even when I wanted to return, I knew I could not.
Officially I was dead to them and the guards around and for my safety and the safety of my child I needed to stay away.
The urge to get back to the pack and kill Sasha was very high. I wanted to kill her before killing Alex and taking back my rightful place as the Luna of the pack but I knew I wouldn’t survive any battle in my current state.
I would still have to go through some ruthless high ranked guards before getting to either one of them. Plus I didn’t know how many guards were on my side, I only knew that not all of them would want me alive as they would be obeying the orders of the crown.
With that I fell to the ground in exhaustion, grabbing the dirt of the forest in anger and frustration.
“I will come back for this pack,” I sighed with a shaky voice sobbing at how I had lost this fight. I looked to the sky to see the moon brimming bright and high. “Oh spirits of the moon goddess and the forest, I promise to return and get my revenge.
“I don’t care how many years I have to wait before I get it. I will come back for my revenge and I will make sure I do it one day. Please protect me and my unborn child on our journey to the unknown as we start a new path.
“We know not where we would be going but we do know that it could be treacherous. With the rogues out there waiting to kill us if we leave and the hunters waiting to take us in as slaves, we cannot do it without you.
“So I ask that you guide us into the right path as we go out there and survive the dangerous world.”
When I was done asking for divine aid from the moon spirits, I stood to my feet ready to get into the world.
I was no longer leaving as a Luna, I was leaving as a regular wolf who was pregnant.
This was what I had been reduced to thanks to Alex and Sasha. I had a special place in my heart for Sasha. I would make sure she received the harshest punishment possible when I return for revenge… and as for Alex, he was gonna have to beg me for death before I grant it to him.
Taking in deep breaths, I started my first steps out of the pack, ready to survive for now and return stronger.
