~ Lily ~ Monday arrives carrying sunshine that looks deceptively peaceful through the glass walls of my office building. Outside, people moved along the sidewalks hurriedly trying to get where they needed to go while inside, the board members were on their third disagreement before ten in the morning. “If we delay the rollout until September,” one director insists, “we’ll have more time to evaluate the market.” “We’ve been evaluating the market for six months,” someone else replies. I let it continue while I skim the financial report in front of me. They’re not wrong. They’re also not saying anything that couldn’t have been summarised ten minutes ago. My phone buzzes beside my notebook. Ginger: Are you free for lunch? Ginger: Please say yes. No joke. No dramatic threat of replacing
