The first thing I learned about these bikers is that every one of them considers himself an expert mechanic.
The second thing I learned is that none of those experts agree on anything.
“That’s not how you rebuild a carburettor,” one mechanic says, pointing across the engine.
“It literally is,” a second one shoots back.
“I rebuilt three of these last year,” a third voice insists from somewhere behind the bike.
“And all three probably exploded,” the first one mutters.
The argument rages on across the garage while nobody seems concerned, including the men actually working on the motorcycle. I sit on a stool beside Hector’s workbench sipping coffee and watching grown men debate mechanical components with the intensity of political extremists.
It’s weirdly entertaining.
