“You don’t look too bad either, Mark Gardner,” she said. Mark stepped forward, his eyes bright. He ran one hand down her bare arm and grinned. “Guess I need to take you out more often.” His fingers were cool to the touch and Heather felt a chill run down her spin. The dress fell to her ankles, but it exposed most of her back and everything above her bust line, save for the strap wrapped around her neck. She hoped she would not feel cold all night and contemplated a shawl. “Happy Birthday, lovely lady,” Mark said, leaning forward to give Heather a kiss. “Are you ready to be treated to a first-class evening?” Heather raised her chin. “Yes I am.
