CHAPTER 4 Beauty

1260 Words
"Aurora, are you okay?" The voice outside the car door was soft and gentle, as if it could melt even the hardest hearts. Aurora's brow twitched slightly as she glanced out through the tinted window. A delicate figure stood at the car door in a pink dress. She was a charming beauty, with a face so pure and innocent, adorned with minimal makeup that highlighted her long, curly eyelashes and doe-like eyes. Her delicate face seemed to exude a natural innocence, and her slightly pouted lips hinted at a perpetual naivety. In her previous life, Aurora had been deceived by this facade of innocence until later realizing the darkness beneath it. Forcing back the urge to slap her, Aurora curved her lips into a disdainful smile. "Do I look like I'm okay to you? Scarlett?" Scarlett Rose, the heiress of the Rose Family, also happened to be Aurora's distant cousin. They had grown up together, and thanks to certain individuals' manipulations, Scarlett had become Aurora's confidante, making their relationship seem like that of sisters. In the previous life, Scarlett had been "kind" to Aurora , resorting to underhanded tactics against her time and time again. If Scarlett hadn't confessed to orchestrating the conspiracy behind the car accident and all that followed, Aurora would never have imagined that her cousin, whom she had grown up with, had already schemed against the Luminance Family! Caught off guard by Aurora's unexpected retort, Scarlett's expression soured. Tears welled up in her dewy eyes, and her voice choked with emotion. "Aurora, I'm sorry. I know I've upset you again. If you're angry, just vent it on me. You don't have to hold back on my account." "Scarlett Rose, what are you talking about? Are you saying Aurora is just throwing a tantrum?!" A resolute and righteous female voice rang out not far away, carrying a hint of indignation. Aurora turned her gaze once again towards the source of the voice, seeing a stunning woman striding towards them in a silver-gray cheongsam, exuding an aura of confidence and determination. Standing at a towering height of 1.85 meters, coupled with her seven-centimeter stiletto heels, she commanded attention effortlessly. Her figure, voluptuous yet toned, and her long, slender legs were enough to drive any woman insane with jealousy, while simultaneously captivating the attention of countless men. Despite her striking appearance, her demeanor exuded a military-like efficiency and grace. However, her face was now etched with anger, her eyes piercing Scarlett like knives. Is it her? Aurora couldn't help but feel her eyes welling up with tears, desperately forcing a smile to form on her lips... She's alive, and that's all that matters. The fiery and alluring woman, Elena, was one of Aurora's closest friends during her student days. Known as the notorious "Black Widow," Elena had been engaged three times within a year, yet each fiancé met a tragic end before the wedding, earning her the infamous title of Metropia City's Black Rose. Aurora gently closed her eyes, concealing the traces of tears, and pushed open the car door, adjusting the train of her wedding gown. "Sweetie!" "Are you okay?" Elena scanned Aurora up and down, relieved to see that she had only sustained a minor injury to her forehead. She then redirected her provocative gaze towards Scarlett, who stood nearby with a pitiful look. "Scarlett, besides playing the victim and shedding tears, can you come up with anything new?" Elena, with her bold and fiery personality, always looked down upon Scarlett's hypocrisy and fragility. Similarly, Scarlett resented Elena's interference in her affairs. Thus, the two were like water and fire, unable to get along. Seeing Elena's imposing demeanor once again, Scarlett quickly lowered her head, her eyes reddening. She gently bit her pink lip, adding a touch of lip gloss, and choked out in a voice filled with grievance, "N-No... I didn't... you've misunderstood me, Miss..." Aurora couldn't help but inwardly scoff at Scarlett's attempt to appear on the verge of tears . "Such a waste not to be in Hollywood with that talent," she thought to herself. Casting a sidelong glance at Elena's proud and alluring face, Aurora suddenly smiled lightly, patting Elena's hand. Her gaze then shifted to Scarlett, her tone mocking. "Cousin, today's my wedding day, and you're crying like you've lost your parents. Are you here to bring me bad luck on purpose?" "I-I really didn't..." Scarlett stammered, her eyes seeming to turn red from her efforts to explain. "What great acting skills," Aurora mused silently. Elena flashed a brilliant and smug smile, giving Aurora a look of approval. She then took a petite girl from her bodyguard and tossed her in front of Aurora, turning to Scarlett with a scornful smirk. "Scarlett, take a look at who caused the accident before you speak!" Seeing the girl sitting on the ground, Scarlett's face turned pale as a sheet, cursing inwardly. Daisy Rose, you i***t! Why didn't you run away after the accident? How did you get caught! Aurora remained silent, standing there quietly with her eyes slightly lowered, concealing the coldness and mockery in her gaze. Only a faint smirk played at the corner of her lips. She was waiting for someone to come and finish this charade. The stunning Scarlett stepped forward, delicately covering her mouth, her innocent face expressing disbelief and surprise as she exclaimed, "Daisy, is that you?" The perpetrator inside the modified car turned out to be none other than Scarlett's sister, another daughter from the Rose Family - Daisy. The petite Daisy stole a glance at her sister, then burst into tears, crying as if her heart would break, "I'm so sorry, I was just too anxious and didn't pay attention, that's how I crashed into the wedding car... Aurora, I didn't know it was your wedding car, I'm really sorry, I didn't mean to..." Elena, who was usually hot-tempered, surprisingly remained silent, arms crossed, watching the drama unfold . Are all these Rose Family people graduates from ” Twilight City”? They cry on cue, and they cry so pitifully. Scarlett, the charming beauty, cried so beautifully, and the cute little sister Daisy also shed tears so convincingly... They really know how to perform! Scarlett furrowed her delicate brows, scolding her younger sister Daisy in exasperation. "Why are you so reckless?! What if something had really happened? How will you explain to LF Family and Stonecrest Dynasty?" After scolding her for a while, Scarlett turned around, fluttering her long, curly lashes. Her eyes, shimmering with hope and anticipation, looked at Aurora, gently shaking her arm and whispering, "Aurora, I'm truly sorry. Daisy was just too eager to attend your wedding, so it was unintentional. She's a bastard born and lacks education. You've always been magnanimous. Please don't hold it against her, okay?" The sisterly act was indeed well-played, adeptly turning murder into an accidental car crash, and then placing the magnanimous hat on herself. In Aurora's eyes, if she were to argue with Daisy, it would seem like she was bullying her, taking advantage of her position... In the previous life, Aurora was defeated by just these few words from Scarlett. She held onto the pride and nobility of an ancient aristocratic lady, disdained to argue with a Rose Family illegitimate child, and naively believed that it was truly an accident, unaware that it was a carefully planned murder. Even more foolishly, she let these two sisters and the Rose Family off easily. Unfortunately, all Scarlett received from Aurora was a mocking gaze, bordering on sarcasm.
