I knew I shouldn’t have held her because the second I wrapped my arms around her, and she let herself lean into me, and breathed in as if I was the only thing keeping her from giving up, I lost it. The feeling was dangerous, I had a strong instinct to protect her and to shield her from anything that could hurt her, even when I shouldn’t but I couldn’t stop myself.
