The air in Eldertree was thick with tension as the night of the Blood Moon approached. The villagers were on edge, their usual wariness of the Grimwood turning into outright fear. The Blood Moon was a rare celestial event, occurring only once every few decades, and it was said to bring with it a time of great upheaval and danger.
The villagers believed that the Blood Moon was an omen, a sign that the veil between the world of the living and the spirit realm was at its thinnest, allowing dark forces to cross over. They spoke of past Blood Moons in hushed tones, recounting tales of strange disappearances, mysterious illnesses, and violent storms that had struck without warning.
As the day of the Blood Moon drew nearer, the villagers began to prepare. They hung charms above their doors, placed offerings of food and drink outside their homes, and avoided the forest at all costs. Even the bravest hunters refused to set foot in the Grimwood, fearing what might be lurking within its shadows.
Luna, however, was not afraid. She had always felt a strange connection to the moon, its phases influencing her moods and her dreams. The Blood Moon intrigued her, and despite her mother’s warnings, she couldn’t resist the urge to venture into the forest on the night of its appearance.
As the sun set on the night of the Blood Moon, Luna made her way to the edge of the Grimwood. The sky was ablaze with color, the setting sun painting the horizon in shades of red and orange. Due to her curiosity she eventually went in and saw something very shocking.
