I looked at my daughter, smiling at her, running my finger over her cheek.
“Welcome to the world, little one.” I whispered to her. I looked at Aurora who was asleep, and I couldn’t help but smile when I saw how calm she was. “If only your mother knew how strong she was; things would be a lot easier.”
I put my finger in my daughter’s hand, and I couldn’t help but chuckle when she wrapped her hand around it. “You are a beautiful little baby.”
I kissed her fingers before getting up from the couch to cover Aurora. I raised the blanket gently, careful not to wake her up. I kissed her forehead, letting my lips linger there. She purred, and I smiled, purring back.
