The Girl

Chapter eight "What the hell were you thinking?" Erica yells at me and I feel my dad's eyes glare a hole into me. He storms off and knowing him, I would be dead if I was still human. However, we're impossible to kill unless you can harness sunlight. Any witch can, but it takes years for them to master that spell. They'd be dead long before they could figure out how to control it. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" I exclaim, knowing that I'm in trouble but the exhilaration of the woman's powerful blood is still flowing throughout me. "But I feel amazing, you should try it." I laugh, knowing that's inappropriate but I don't care. Her blood was so delicious and I would probably do it again if I didn't get caught. Erica hears chanting from downstairs and my trip ends with a feeling of choking, I violently cough and choke up blood. There's burning in my veins and I can't seem to escape the pain. "God! Make it stop!" I scream, pleading with someone, anyone to make it go away. I keep screaming, the pain never ceasing and actually increasing until it abruptly stops. I swallow what I can and take a long, deep breathe. Allowing the oxygen to travel into my lungs and out, I manage to calm myself down and Erica helps me to my feet. We make it downstairs as I see my dad standing over the woman's dead body, he decapitated her as I'm guessing I was choking to death at the same time. "She was harnessing sunlight into her blood, her blood was running through your veins and she was burning you from the inside out." I'm shocked until anger takes over. "That b***h," I spit on her body. My dad lets me crush her head but now there's brain and guts all over my feet, I feel a strange sense of repulsion and race upstairs to take a shower. I hear my dad and Erica discussing how they should get rid of her body. I can hear their voices the entire time I'm in the shower, vampires also have incredible super hearing, so I hear everything. "What about her son?" Erica asks. "Eat it, for all I care." He scoffs and I sigh, knowing I won't get to join in on the feast. Whatever punishment my father has planned for me, it'll be a long night. I finish my wash and change, making my way out of the bathroom and walking down the sunlit long hallway. "Hey," Erica calls from down the hallway and I look behind me. "Yeah?" I question and she meets me downstairs. "Dad's letting you in on the fun." My eyes light up with excitement and relief, hoping that his punishment might not be as bad as I think. "Come on." She urges me to follow her, I can hear screaming and this piques my interest. Are we torturing another person already? I see a girl strapped down to the chair in the basement, her legs covered in the witch's blood we previously maimed. I see my dad has decorated, the witch's dismembered body is scattered all across the floor and her blood is smeared all over the walls. The overwhelming scent of her powerful ichor makes my pupils dilate and I have to control myself from losing control. The girl has tears streaming down her face but she doesn't look afraid, more angry that we ruined her night. "What the hell are you doing?" She exclaims, flaring her nostrils in anger towards my dad. "Is this another witch?" I ask Erica and she shakes her head. "No, she's human." "I thought dad wanted daylight rings, how's a human supposed to help us?" "She's human but her roommate is a witch." "Oh," I say, watching my dad try to complete his work. "Tell us where your witchy friend is." "Never, you'll have to kill me." She spits and my dad laughs. "Why would we do that? Your blood is nothing compared to the real thing. I was going to spare your friend's life if she would just give us daylight rings. But when I find her, I might just drain the life from her as you watch." "You're a monster." She snarls, she continues to struggle with the ropes wrapped tightly around her wrists. I can see the more she fights, the more the rope rubs into her wrists and are starting to make her bleed. The smell is making my mouth water and I need to go hunt something or I might mess everything up again by feeding on the human. I excuse myself and run into the forest, I can feel the wind in my hair as I race past trees and wildlife. I hear a deer and smell the blood running through its veins, and that stops me in my tracks. I hide behind a tree, seeing the animal's ears perk at every sound and the grass he's eating. I've always had a kind of sympathy for animals which is why when I turned, I refused to feed on animals, but now I'm kind of desperate and don't want my dad to kick me out of the house possibly leaving me to fry. I accidentally step on a branch and the deer gallops away, this ensues a chase and I run to catch up with the buck. I get closer and closer, I finally grab the animal and sink my fangs in its neck. The warm blood, which is unfortunately much more tame than witch blood but is satisfying enough, trickles down my chin and I feel the animal struggling to escape my grip. I can hear its heartbeat slowing and I unhinge my fangs, the animal is still alive and I let him go. The deer slowly gains his strength and bounds away, I see him in the distance drinking his energy back and he bounces away, out of my sight. I sigh and get up, the hunger has been satisfied for now and I make my way to the house. We live in the middle of nowhere, it was Erica's vacation cabin for her family and me when I slept over. Erica was turned when she was 16, dangerous some would say but she learnt restraint. I was turned only 6 months ago but Erica and my dad taught me tons. Erica taught me to hear the heartbeat of my prey and when it slows, to let go and allow them to go regain their strength later. When vampires were first discovered by society, humans never knew that they were being fed on because of compulsion. We could compel humans but then witches were born and they were harder to feed on. Usually, vampires would be intimate with witches so they could feed from them. That's where vampires found out how potent and addicting witch blood is, however, a lot of immature and savage vampires ruined the discreetness of us and we were found out to exist all along. We couldn't compel witches and that's how we were found out, vampires started to hunt down witches to extinction and that's when they told society. No one believed them at first, of course, but if the Salem Witch Trials could happen, then too could the discovery of vampires. ... Sorry to end the fun but I hope you enjoyed, there's more mysteries to come. Don't forget to vote, comment and share! Till next time, my loves
