7. Goodbye

300 Words
Bree   "Sabrina! What the heck?" Mom yelled before she even entered the room.   I looked down. "I'm sorry mom..." I really am sorry...   "Why would you not tell me about that guy, and you… You murdered people!"   "He said he'd kill you and everyone I cared about if I didn't... I-I didn't see another choice."   "The police! That’s when you call the police!" "He said he had a lot of friends who would hunt me and you down if I did. And half the time he had me at gunpoint! He - he killed Princie the one time I refused!"   Mom's face softened slightly, and instead of ranting more she just asked, "What in the world am I supposed to tell your father and brother when they get home from their vacation?" Tears ran down her cheeks and her face crumpled. I felt so bad, disappointing her this much was worse than being a murderer.   I hugged her tightly and let the tears I’d been holding back leak out.   Before long, a police officer came in. "Time to go, come on." He said and grabbed my shoulder. Yeah, take me away to doom whenever you darn well feel like it! Don't mind the fact that Mom and I are crying and saying goodbye for just about the last time! I considered speaking my mind, but decided to give my mom what little mental peace I could by showing that I wasn't explosive or whatever she might think.   I let them drag me away to the car and close me into the backseat. I felt a little panicky but held all my feelings in. I deserved this.   I watched my mom from the back window, tears in my eyes. "I'm sorry..." I whispered into the silence.
